Season to season, since the lockout, no one has been more consistent than Hank.

Game to game, sure, you could find inconsistencies in anyone's game. The numbers don't lie.

Since 05-06 he's anywhere from 1-3 in the NHL in GAA, sv%, wins, and SOs.

If there's a goalie in the league that deserves to get paid, it's Hank.

Also, this no "home team discount" thing is BS. He would've gotten 9.5+ on the open market. So, there's a million per year for you guys. Expecting him to sign for $7.5 just because he's a career Ranger is ridiculous.

In two years, when the cap is 80+mm, none of this will matter.

I just... I don't know. Some of your expectations of Hank here are so outlandish. If he lets in more than 2 goals in a game you all have your pitchforks ready. ****ing relax, take a look at what he's been able to do in the playoffs without ANY goal support, and enjoy the ride.

We are so ****ing spoiled with him, some people have no idea what we have. Do you guys remember the post-Richter, pre-Lundqvist days? McLennan, Dunham, Holmqvist, Markkanen, LaBarbera. It's like ancient history around here. One day you'll be telling your grandkids how awesome it was to be able to watch Hank night in and night out. (Didn't mention Blackburn on purpose. Would've loved to see what he would've become had he stayed healthy)

I mean, do you guys realize what his November numbers are?

11 games, 5 wins, 2.27 GAA, .924 sv%

WASHED UP & STRUGGLING.

yeah, watch a team like Pit.... Their saving grace is Crosby... Imagine if it was just Malkin (equivalent to the rangers have just Nash imo), and then Fluery as your sole netminder... How many games does Fluery nearly throw away for the Pens only to have Cindy save his ass?

Fleury had a near 3 GAA the year they won the cup.

Thank you. This is the only number that is relevant. Comparing fixed salary numbers in a climate of constant change to the cap is a useless exercise. Lundqvists deal is not truly 0.2M less than Crosby's in term of the impact of how it affects the team. Crosby's deal was signed as a 15.4% of the cap deal (56.7M cap). Lundqvist's was 13.2% (and really lower as it doesn't kick in until next year when the cap will be higher than the 64.3 it is now). He may be earning a similar amount of money but the affect it has on the team and ability to sign other players is much lower.

I get this, but it still doesn't negate the fact he's a goalie.

Lol no it means you don't understand math or you hate every contract that every goalie has gotten. Being a goalie has nothing to do with it. Percentage-wise this is almost the same as his previous deal.

“@KatieStrangESPN: #NYR Hard to find many goaltenders as consistent as he's been in recent yrs. Still has plenty of good hockey ahead of him, cap will increase”

Well this is going no where fast. So we have more to spend, we should spend it on Hank? Is that what you are saying?

but they had offense that could sustain over 4 GPG to compensate for that... Thats not a luxury the rangers have right now

That's not an excuse to not sign Henrik. Henrik has around a 2 GAA avg for his career in the playoffs.

Get him more offense. We have the coach already, the players are going to come too.

No it's saying think in percentages since they remain constant and not static numbers as they depend too much on the surrounding environment. 8.5 may seem like a lot and it certainly was years ago. Now with the cap at 64M, expected to be around 70 next year, the new tv deal, and the cap expected to increase annually, it really isn't that monstrous of a deal that will hold you back from doing anything.

Indeed. Hank is accounting for less of the cap going forward, not more. Not sure why some have a hard time understanding that. Nor do I get the whole "it's too much money for a goalie." It's in the same vein as when we get totally outplayed yet Hank steals us the win and the other team's fans are saying we only won because of Hank. Yeah, and? lol

Like I said, I get this. We didn't have alot of options.

It's not the end of the world, would of preferred to shift the percentage to some scorers is all I'm trying to say.

Yup preaching to the choir this is exactly what i was saying by mentioning those miserably bad signings (Redden & Drury especially). Drury still counted against the cap too although it was reduced

Haha I was agreeing with you. Giving you more fuel to your argument. Henrik's not the problem here. Stupid Richards, Gomer, Drury, Redden, Rosival, etc. contracts are the killers.
