I don't know. I really didn't think the hit was all that terrible. Rempe wasn't the one that initiated contact. I get that he's supposed to hold back there, and by the book, deserved the game. But, the player that got boarded stopped early and was trying to throw a reverse hit. He just got run over by a much larger player. He'll probably get a couple games due to prior discipline, but I don't think the hit was particularly malicious. I mean, he didn't even drop his shoulder.
That was kind of my initial take as well. If those guys are closer in size that hit doesn't end up that way--it was honestly pretty far from the boards and not really at high speed. I do think Rempe extended and really kind of launched the guy, and as a bigger player he needs to be responsible for his actions and the impacts they have, but I don't think it was malicious. Given his prior suspensions, including one for boarding, it doesn't seem like he'll get the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah this is how I saw it. He reacted to the reverse hit. He needs to hold off in that situation though. Deserves a “vacation” even though I don’t think he intended to do harm. BTW, since a reverse hit is actually being thrown into a guy who doesn’t have the puck I don’t completely understand why that isn’t considered interference.
I also agree they are looking at him as a Reeves type. Huge guy on the fourth line that’ll throw some heavy hits a few times a game. We shall see.

He still followed through. That's the type of hit that can break a player's neck. The other player just tried slowing down/stopping and Rempe extended through him. It was easily one of the worst hits I've seen this season in any league. He will be sitting quite a bit for it.

There is absolutely no "reverse hit" there at all IMO but I'm basing this all off one camera angle at bad quality, so maybe it doesn't look as bad from a different perspective.

He 100% tried a reverse hit.

its a bad hit but i dont mind having a guy in the system we need to teach to dial it back for once, feel like for years anyone we draft/sign with that kinda game in mind its always the type that needs more aggression coached into them...way easier to coach whoa than mo

Matt Rempe received a 3 game suspension from the hit. Thought he would get a couple more based on history truthfully.

edit - just realized I missed Nyr2k2 post above on this.

Othmann, Cuylle, Berard. All LW. Which players are best suited to make the move over to RW? If all 3 can make the team someday, at least one of them will have to make the move over behind Kreider and Panarin.

No idea, but I have to imagine any of them can do it. Moving from one wing to the other is the easiest position change to make. If they get time in Harford they can work on it there.

Out of all the forwards, is their any Kevin Hayes types, the drafted wingers that can play center at the pro level due to their smarts? Hayes was drafted as a winger.

Cuylle and Berard are probably on the 3rd line most of the time at their peak anyway. By the time Othman is a regular in the top 6, I assume Kreider is traded.
looking forward to six 1st rounders we'll get with the current escalation in the trade market.
