If Jones and Lundkvist both somehow make it, that would give us 3 defensemen under 6 foot, 190lbs. Lindgren is barely 6 foot.

You feel like the show is gonna drop with a trade before that happens. I don't have all the data but that would be well smaller than league average. 80% of regular defensemen at 6' or taller. 78% are 190lbs or above

Yeah, I feel like in general the league is more and more accessible to smaller, skilled players than it has been in forever. By the same token, there are still plenty of really big, really strong forwards out there, that necessitate you having some real beef on the back end (and up front, too). I am not opposed to having a smaller, highly-skilled team, but it's still important to have some size throughout the lineup so teams that are larger and stronger don't just maul you.

You could pair each with a bigger defenseman

Lindgren-Fox
Jones-Trouba
Miller-Lundkvist

But that throws possibilities like Robertson, Reaunanen and Schneider out the door.

Really hope we see a like-for-like trade where one of our high end defensive prospects goes for a solid center prospect.

Right, a Keane-for-Gauthier deal with higher-end guys involved potentially.

a rotation (someone is always missing some games) of
Trouba, Lindgren, Schneider, Miller(I expect his physical game to emerge), with size/jam,
Robertson a hybrid, and with skill-first guys Fox, Lundkvist, Jones,
most games there would be a balanced D-corps.
I will welcome that, tho i know some assets may move for a C, if in-house options don't fill the gap.
Hopefully not a gap at scoring W, w Laf, Kakk, Krav as young vets soon.

None of the players are guarantees. Lundkvist, as polished and accomplished as he is, is no guarantee. I understand having doubts about Miller leading into the season, but having watched him--all the little plays, the physically dominant plays, the smarts--I don't know how anyone could have doubts about him now. Or have doubts that the immense upside is increasingly a realistic possibility. Even if it's "just" 11 games.

I completely agree. I was talking about their relative status prior to this season where Lundkvist could have been objectively put ahead of Miller.

Oh, and as far as my current (after 11 games) Miller expectations go - mine has skyrocketed to the level that I think he'd be a significant upgrade over prime McD.

Zac Jones seems like a guy the Rangers will be including in a trade for a big time player at some point

No trades until these guys turn pro and we see what we have in them and then balance that against our cap.

Plus as we've seen from past experience (hello Mike Sauer, Michael Del Zotto, Neal Pionk, John Gilmour, Ryan Graves) a lot can happen between now and two years when Zac Jones, Lundkvist, Robertson and Schneider are all here or knocking on door.

Everyone was saying Lindgren was a spare part roughly a year ago. Likewise, Hajek's future was looking much brighter at the start of last season. Brady Sjkei was seen as a top-4 for years to come.

Gotcha. Yes, prior to the year I understood Lundkvist over Miller. I didn't agree, but I understood it.

Jones and Hughes were scheduled to play each other but the game has been postponed due to COVID (most likely on the UMass side).

Northeastern has games against UNH now on Friday and Saturday. UMass has not announced any additional games this week (yet).

I'm not huge on Cuylle; I'm sure I could pick out 10 or so guys that I would have taken ahead of him. But it's a little ridiculous how low he is here.

The only two guys after Barron that I think I would take ahead of him (and it's debatable), are Berard and Reunanen. And if it is just about prospects that could succeed as Rangers, then Berard.

Does Wheeler generally skew his rankings toward flashy skill?

I'd just note who the Ranger have ranked in 14-17 range. This is DEPTH!

I really think if a team has two smallish puck moving defensemen that can run a powerplay you have enough. You bulk up with the rest of the defense group. Looking down the road a couple years that would mean something like Fox, Trouba, Miller, Robertson, Schneider, Lindgren and one (maybe two) of Lundkvist, Jones or Reunanen. Really I see Schneider and Robertson both becoming mainstays on our team and a possible shutdown pair. Miller's just been fantastic and I'm a huge fan of Lundkvist. Fox is insane too. I don't know what we do with all these guys but our D might eventually be the best in the league. Skinner might even have a shot.

Sometimes when I hear people complaining I just think---just give it time and be patient.

this is the part where you say just kidding and he got pulled after allowing 6 on 14 shots en route to a 8-2 loss
Ha, right. I was looking for some sort of flashing siren GIF like they'd use on Drudge or HuffPost but in the middle of that my stupid training put me in a breakout room and I had no idea what was going on.

Legit though, he stopped all 18 shots for the SO. 3-9-6 stops by period.

Nah, Lundkvist. We already have Fox on the right and Lundkvist, with his pedigree, play in a pro league, and likely ability to play starting next year, almost certainly holds more value.

Anyone have names in mind that Lundkvist could fetch in a trade? Would be a hell of a piece to let go
