How the hell is Garand still here?
His stats were underwhelming in the AHL last year. He played better in the playoffs but he needs to put up a save % over a .900 in the AHL if he hopes to ever be a NHL goalie. Seems like he will be ranked 6-7th , around where he should be.

Rangers fans got spoiled with Lundqvist straight line progression after his draft to the same with Shesterkin (both were / are at the very top of their contemporaries). Garland’s progression is not as stellar but has been very steady at every level. So in regard to his progress he’s been just fine. I can see Jones being next choice in the voting but I’m very intrigued by BMB and also would rank Garand higher as well.

Garand also has the Team Canada pedigree. I think that counts for something.

Respectfully, how many Wolfpack games were you able to watch this past season?
The reason I ask is because your assessment of Jones and Robertson seems different from mine, and from many of the posters who are regular’s on the Hartford board.
Respectfully my friend, I saw zero and only a few snippets of highlights here and there.

I am going on:
-- the eye test
-- the general principle that while there are exceptions that prove every rule, the rule in all sports is the good big man beats the good little man.

both ZJ and MR progressed nicely in the A last season, but imo, got the feel that Robbie's 2nd half was better than Jones's.

Are you sure about your assessment so far, or have you unintentionally fallen victim to hype?

If you are somewhat confident I will be happy with an open mind to hear your pitch to give mo props to Jones

Watched every game.
Robertson had a bit of a tough season. Tried to add offensive to his game and it seemed to throw him a bit. Also Robertson lost some games to injury.
Jones was moved to the right side for games because of team need.
Jones played both sides in college so he looked very comfortable.
Hartford for a majority of year was a dismal team and had a great push at the end because of growth and acquisitions. Zac Jones was one of the few bright spots from season start to playoff finis.
Scanlin was steady all year.
Emberson was a rock on the left side.
I am hoping that this is the season that Robertson will make great strides.

Robertson got a lot better as the season went on. His last 23 games he had 2-11-13 and played to a +6. He also only took 4 penalties. The first 34 he was 3-7-10 and -13 and took 9 penalties. He settled down pretty significantly once he stopped trying to force the offense, and he actually produced more offense as a result. What we saw from him over the final 20+ games is what we had been hoping to see from him since his pro debut.

bold my understanding as well, but expected Emb as a righty shot to have been on the right side. Team need?

I get Zac was more consistent the whole year, not disputing that.
Did MR have the better 2nd half or end of 2nd half?

thanks
my feeling is it was along these lines but I did not have stats to confirm

glad both are improving, but regardless of any other consideration, unless one or the other is night and day better, you deal the one w/less upside and more cap hit.

Jones can't be sent up and down.
Showcase, then deal
Keep Robertson for now

Much better 4th quarter.
sorry to split hairs, but the numbers here caught my attention

the Pack's AHL Regular season schedule was 72 games,
so the "4th quarter" would be final 18 games
Robertson missed the final 12 RS games (and all postseason)

glad he made positive impression, i am one of his supporters,

You are correct of course. When I originally typed it I had 3/4 then changed it because of memory fog.
