I have literally no idea what they are doing with Hajek by the way.

He’s the on paper 7th D and if they really get an injury it’s a kid call up in Schneider RD, Jones LD

Lundkvist and Robertson after that
Shouldn’t see Tinordi or Reuananen or Skinner

I like Vatrano's speed, defense and shoot first talents with pan. Also pretty good at digging pucks out.
Cop taking FOs for chy seems ideal to me and with his defensive talents along with KK's they should do well both defensively and chip in a goal or 2.
I think our 4th line become a great high energy checking line now
Motte is hunt but plays way better defensively. Him and goody would be great together. I personally like JB who would be another energy guy that can shoot the puck but it will probably be reaves with hunt once in awhile
Not sure rooney comes back
I want schneider to play but we all know he probably wont now unless nem starts looking like he did a couple months ago..

Kreid zib laf
Pan stro vat
Cop chy kk
Mot good JB
Reavo hunt

Lind fox
Mil tru.
Braun schnei
Nem

Kreider Zib Laf
Panarin Strome Vatrano
Goodrow Copp Kakko
Motte Chytil Hunt

Copp is 54% on faceoffs with over 500 taken this year, maybe he shifts to wing during play or something but he will be the guy in the dot

We brought in Copp to pair with Goodrow on a shutdown line
This is absolutely the best proposed and most realistic. There is no chance that Goodrow is on the 4th line and potentially getting less playing time than Chytil on the 3rd line. People need to realize how valuable Goodrow is and how good a 2 way hockey player he is.

Kreider Zib Laf
Panarin Strome Kakko
Goodrow Copp Chytil
Motte Rooney Vatrano
Hunt/Reaves rotating in.

Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
Nemeth Schneider
Braun

For me

Im going to break my TV if i see Reaves ever play on The first or second line again this season.

And if he does, drury should fire gallant immediately. And i like gallant

What I’d like to see:
Kreider-Zibanejad-Lafreniere
Panarin-Strome-Copp (Copp takes most of the draws)
Goodrow-Chytil-Kakko
Motte-Rooney-Vatrano/Hunt/Reaves

I think it’s well balanced with 3 lines that can contribute and an energy line. Hunt probably fits best as the 4 RW on an energy line.

Pessimistic take:
Kreider-Zibanejad-Copp
Panarin-Strome-Vatrano
Motte-Goodrow-Rooney
Lafreniere-Chytil-Kakko

Injuries will happen so you know the black aces are getting in. Reaves plays the first 3-5 games of any series to wear down the D and then gets replaced by a more speedy/fresh player as you get into the elimination games. I have serious doubts they are going to throw KK back into the top 6 after missing 30+ games but that 3rd line could be a possession monster. Drury has put Gallant in a position that he cant really make a wrong choice. And imagine Blais gets healthy?

Imagine grinding for 82 games together and the organization throws Kravtsov at 2RW...guys do you really think Gallant is going to roll with that?
Some posters are in lala land. Just like those that think Gallant will place Goodrow on a 4th line. It aint happening.

These are interesting points. I just want Laf to stay where he is and keep KK on line 3 unless by the playoffs he’s shown he fully rehabbed and found his game. Brain should also eat some of Fox’s PK minutes.

When does Blais get back? Didn’t they say sometime during round 1?
Haven’t even seen him skating on his own.
Acl surgery middle of December. So normal person at least 6-9 months so even if he wanted to risk it coming back early you’re looking at least mid may early June

No confirmed lines, just a visual:

Wanted to show this for comparison.

Tampa obviously very good team that knows that they are doing.

They know Hagel is not a good defensive player so to balance their team they are moving him into top six up and moving Cirelli (who had been in their top six all year) to their checking line. Especially in the playoffs balance wins.

Copp-Goodrow-Kakko is staring right at them. That’s a potential difference making shut down line in the playoffs. Look at how Tampa leveraged their trade deadline moves into order to get ahead of that. They need to replace what the Goodrow line gave then. The Rangers need to replicate that as best possible. Now they have the chance to.

general agree, but remember we got Goody to protect breadman,, so...

Kreider - Chytil - Kravtsov
Goodrow - Zibanejad - Panarin
Lafreniere Copp Kakko
Vatrano - Rooney - Motte/Strome

Reaves/Gauthier, then Hunt as last resort ditch McKegg

Lindgren - Fox
Miller - Trouba
Braun/Nemeth - Schneider

remember I wanted Krav but also for him to get legit shot at pivot
but Chytil has shown much better results with better linemates.

At some pt I am interested in in Kreider + Kakko bookending a kick ass pivot.
for now these are the best combos, imo.

Gauthier is underused b'c LaF, while better, is still behind where he needs to be w/his skating, so Chytil - Gauthier and a good scoring/finisher LW is on hold til next yr; Vatrano, and some prospects are possible answers.

Strome is overrated. He is a nominal +, a legit moderate offensive add but a small negative the other way. His failure is a large part of why the TDL moves were made.
Let's not compound the problem by playing him higher up in the lineup. He maybe a legit 2C elsewhere, but not for this club. Don't believe if you go by pure ability, he beats out Rooney across the board, esp if they have the same Ws.

I suspect we'll see something like the following:

Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko
Panarin-Strome-Copp
Lafreniere-Chytil-Vatrano
Motte-Goodrow-Hunt

But with that said, I think there's a lot of uncertainty.

For instance I think they could very well go with Reaves to start, to bring some energy to begin with. I also think Vatrano, Motte, Hunt and even Chytil all potential risks to lose their spots. We've seen Gallant sit Chytil previously this year, so it wouldnt surprise me to see Goodrow go into that third line center role, and Chytil gets pushed out.

I think Vatrano will need to show more scoring, because he's on the smaller side and isn't necessarily the strongest defensively...though I think it's his positio to lose. Motte is a bit of an unknown, he's more your defensive specialist, and I think he's the one who could keep Rooney out of the line-up, although if Chytil gets pushed, then Rooney is there on 4th line center.

Hunt is probably a guy who has inside track too, and he and Motte might compete for that last 4th line spot...though Hunt perhaps has a little more proven versatility at this stage.

Another guy who is more of a dark horse is Brodzinski, but I think there's a lot of guys who are in front of him, and it will depend on what type of player Gallant is looking to add.
