ultimately, thats not a good place for Chytil for development, but for the playoffs, thats a 3rd line that can do some damage, and if a game gets tight and it goes down to three lines, then those three lines are our best top-9 right now.

Goodrow is a fourth liner. Don't overcomplicate things.

he's better than a 4th liner. guys who score 15g and 30p aren't 4th liners.

points aside, in the playoffs you want a guy like him out there as much as you can, not 8mins a game with Reaves and Rooney. Go back and watch the playoffs with Tampa.

We brought him in to be more than just a 4th liner in the post season.

I have a feeling Rooney is a long term thing. Might not be back anytime soon

There's no '4th line' here. All 4 lines are rolled. Obviously if there's a lot of special teams play there will be discrepancies in ice time.

Copp and Motte are our new PKers

He wasn't just a 4th liner on the best team in the league last year. No reason he can't perform very well on the third line but hey if things shake out where he is on the 4th line and doing his thing fine but he is better than just a 4th liner. He's pretty much on pace for 18 goals with pretty much zero pp time.

He's not better than a fourth liner if you are a Cup contender.

He's a shut down 4th liner. Copp is a significantly better player. He's a true middle six player vs Goodrow who is a bottom sixer.

Chytil can't and won't play the fourth line. He's too talented.

So it's Vatrano or Goodrow on the fourth once Kakko comes back.

I'll save you the suspense, Vatrano is a sniper and Goodrow is a shut down center.

It's Goodrow on the fourth line where he belongs when everyone is healthy.
 
Unless Copp is playing with Bread and Strome - it feels like he and Goodrow should be stapled together. Depth wise - it'd probably be a waste to put him with Panarin..

Goodrow-Copp is 2 thirds of a very good checking line - they'll need to click in order for the Rangers to go deep.
 
Reaves will be in the line-up for a series against heavy teams. If it's the penguins he may not touch the ice, which I'm good with. I will say if we end up playing the wild or avalanche I expect him to be in games. I see Chytil on the 3rd line and Goodrow on the fourth to start at least. Pretty excited for the playoffs now!

This team has depth. Mika and Kreider do not have to log a ton of PK minutes. You've got Copp/Goodrow/Motte/Rooney as your main PK players.

You also don't need Fox to be on the PK as much since Miller/Trouba/Lindgren/Braun can all PK.

This matters especially during these last 19 games. Reduced minutes for those 3. Fresher for the postseason.

Chytil now has linemates. Copp and Vatrano have grit and skill. They both can skate well and produce.

The 4th line isn't a hole now. Motte is an energy guy. We know Rooney and Goodrow are down too. You can even move things around with these two lines to find the right mix.

Also, with no roster limits after the deadline, all the other guys can stay up with the team. They aren't leaving the room, just they'll be crammed in that room at the top of MSG.

This will leave room for resting some guys in the last few games if they are locked in to a spot. This doesn't even include Jones and Lundkvist who can remain in Hartford and play in their playoff games.

I really really think they've moved ahead of Pittsburgh today, and if Andersen goes full Toronto, they might be the best team in the division

I hope your right. I do think he's an upgrade to the 4th line or even the 3rd line depending on where they put him. I like Motte...I just think for the now these two are very comparable players. Hunt gets a lot of shit, but I think he is a solid player and has room to get better. If they put him against lesser opposition i think he will be a problem for other teams. I hope Motte is the same for the NYR.

3rd and 4th lines have so many options right now.

They play the Devils tomorrow. Devs forwards below. I like the physical aspects of the Devs 4th line. If they go with them all tomorrow Rangers should keep Reaves in. Want to see Copp, and Motte in there vs them. Good Metro division rival game to acclimate the newbies.

Hunt gets a lot of shit but not his fault. At least he is having a career year here and doing well. Not his fault the lineup did not have the depth it does now.

He’s a perfect fourth liner here. He’s not gonna play over Kakko, Vatrano, or Copp. He may be better than Chytil as we stand here today but Chytil won’t play the fourth line … he will be on a line to generate some offense.

Goodrow is a great shut down fourth line center.

If we have the depth to push him down to the 4th line, great.

That doesn't mean that hes a 4th line player.

I really like what Drury did today along with adding Vatrano. We are a much better team built for the playoffs than we were a week ago. This team can now role 4 lines confidently and play guys in their proper slot. Still not sure Strome is the answer at 2C when the going gets tough in the playoffs but we shall see. I wouldn't want to play against this team in the playoffs if I was another team in the East. We have a bunch of guys who will make the game game ugly and difficult along with some high end talent and the best goalie in the league. Giving me vibes of the Ranger teams from several years ago that had deep playoff runs. Exciting times.
