One Friday night a month, the Wolfpack does $2 Bud Lights & $2 Hotdogs. I don't drink shitty beer & I don't eat hotdogs, but for others that's a really inviting offer.

Do you live up here in the land of the leaf blower?
No, I live in manhattan. I have a car though. Could drive up there w wife and kid, maybe theres other attractions nearby to make a day of it. Heading to a Rangers/Devils game and also a Knicks/Bulls game this year but at $600 for 3 tickets to each game cant afford to do that repeatedly.

Maybe the Wolfpack offers me a value oriented sports family night out. The gears are turning. Too bad its so far away, looks like about 2 hours.

Rec hockey club . No leadership . If anyone wanted to change things it easily enough could be Kreider . He could drop them and give somebody a few shots and get some blood pumping.....but I guess he scores enough so why ask for any extra . We hardly ever see any extra from this club which is why we get a low amount of PP chances . Heck even Pastrnack will drop them....not our guys though .

How can there be leadership on this club? The players work their butts off to reach the established top but once there they are bullet proof and impervious to change. The coaches will kick the sh*t out of some rookie but the veterans are treated like holy saints. The rookies in turn learn from this experience and turn into aloof veterans once they get to rub their butts in the cushiness of the golden chair set up for them.

Rangers/MSG having Sam hawk Jacob Picasso’s terrible paintings while he flutters around the ice buying time until he will allow the Rangers to let him leave NY is such a slap in the face to fans. He should be scratched and Mika/Kreider should be 4th liners until morale improves.

It used to be a nice calm drive when I first drove up to the Civic Center in 1990 from Queens. Now it's a bit rougher & a lot more cars on the road, but once you get past Westchester, it's not awful.

If you do make the trip, take 684 to 84...don't get on 95 to 91 & NEVER take the Hutch to the Merritt! That's literally taking your life in your own hands.

If you ever decide to come up, PM me & I'll send you a list of places to eat & things to do.

Wait I just recall you grilling steaks...you must have a great spot in the city if you have a Weber in your yard!

No, thats at my moms house in Danbury. When Im there I grill usually with the gas grill.

I used to take the coal grill to the beach when on vacation as well. Id make jerk chicken and wouldnt finish until midnight. My nickname is midnight chicken.

Mark Twain’s house. That’s all that comes to mind.

A lot of people here are arguing against themselves.

You can't have logic working if you say

The personnel sucks, and the players aren't trying. It's one or the other.

I'm on the side that believes the team has 3 defensemen playing terrible hockey and that Zibanejad fell off the cliff in ability over a year ago. It's not about his effort. He used to slam passes to him on net. Now he either misses the net or fans on the shot. That's not about effort. It's about eroded skills.

Last year's playoffs exposed just how terrible Lindgren and Trouba are, and Miller is guaranteed to make a few terrible decisions in every game. They're trying. They're horrible.

This teams plays like they arrived even though they never got to the destination. Look at how Florida reacted the next season after losing the Cup. This team will mail it in for 82 and think they'll turn it on come playoff time and get bounced in 5 games.
Don't be silly, this team will make it to at least the second round and get by with thinking they still can go all the way next season...

Thats perfect! My wife loves old homes, I love Mark Twain, and give the kid some culture and history lesson as well. Thanks!!
It's actually very close to the arena. Hartford is a tiny city, but you don't want to hang downtown. The Twain house is right on the edge of West Hartford, where all the money & the good restaurants are.

People roll their eyes at the country club narrative about this team but in reality there has never been a truer explanation for a franchise’s failure over time. Numerous cores, different players, different coaches, different circumstances. One constant: the organization treats them better than any other in the league. The players inevitably get comfortable in their station in life and lose the fight and desire necessary to become champions. It’s literally as simple as that.

It’s not fans being crazy. It’s not some conspiracy. It’s real. Players get paid and complacent and complacent and at this level, that’s all it takes for the difference between contender and bad. The whole group is fat and happy and paid. Went on a deep run last year. They’re entitled in every way.

Tomorrow is my birthday and my wife surprised me with really, really good tickets to a game in December (like 500 a piece, 6 rows up behind the net we shoot on twice). I’m so disgusted with this team i wanted to say cancel them get your money back. Im extremely no confident in being able to have a good time.

I’ve beaten this drum for a while. I know plenty of others have as well. But it really feels that this is the far more likely truth than “we just need D that move the puck better” or “we just need a coach who isn’t part of the old boy’s retread club”. Brady Skjei suddenly could move the puck and play mean hockey at times when he went to a much smaller market team in Carolina. It’ll be the same with Miller. I bet Trouba sees a slight renaissance if we manage to ship him out too. His contract is virtually unmovable but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mika improve shortly after being dealt. It’s not the coach. It’s not really the players. It is, in a way, because it’s up to the players to come and play, but I think we all know at this point that it’s cultural within the organization. Does anyone think Bread and Zib’s 4th coach is going to do better? Gallant and Lavi both got ECF trips and got completely tuned out by these spoiled brats within a year of it. We change coaches again and it will be 4 coaches since 2020 while making the ECF twice. That’s unprecedented.

And to your point regarding the awesome tickets you have but feeling it will be difficult to enjoy. That’s such a gut punch to all of us as fans. We stay up late. We spend our hard earned money. We watch our team instead of using that time elsewhere sometimes. And the team has just reached a point where they are neither likable nor entertaining. If I’m being perfectly honest, almost all of the enjoyment this team brings me at this point is derived from reading HFNYR and the enjoying all of our takes on the team, ideas for the roster, sense of humor and overall community. Without HFNYR I would likely pay 75% less attention to this team right now.

We did everything we could to allow the Oilers to fly thru the neutral zone. We missed nets on our odd man rushes that turned into odd man rushes. We turned the puck.over at the opposing blue line - odd man rush in transition. And 3rd man high kept getting sucked low causing odd man rushes. You have to clog the neutral zone against speed teams. We went out of our way not to. Its probably because its too much trouble for our lazy or not giving a crap players.

The defense pinching is also causing odd man rushes. But if the defense doesn't pinch, not enough offense is generated. It's a rock and a hard place. Looks like the left wing lock has been replaced by a soft 1-2-2 but it comes and goes, leaving huge gaps in the neutral zone, because players are continually sucked in by the aggressive and risky plays.

Why do people make shit replies like this? Is it because they think it’s funny?

There a quite a few posters who do exactly that in every game thread, using the same exact joke every time. I just accept it. Doesn't hurt me.
