I'd imagine Canucks trading / signing another left handed defenseman would be extremely low on the list of priorities.

Yea, I don't really know the Canucks roster situation all too well. Can't see the Sedin's leaving and don't know who else would fit for us that isn't named Kesler.
Fits mold of this team and the type of team the coach wants to have. Would feel like if he's injury prone a trade for a young defenseman could work but you never know.
Honestly, best scenario for Rangers fans would be to see Torts go to Vanc and then trade for his golden boy MDZ immediately thereafter.
They have no one to center their second line if Kesler isn't there. They don't have the depth to move Kesler.

Boyle is his golden boy. I was nauseated at how much ES time Torts would give him.

meh the LHD thing is blown out of proportion, Garrison can play right side, Bieksa and Tanev are righties, and Corrado can play either side. If we are trading Edler I would want a LHD.
“When you're trying to run a power play with five left shots, which we were forced to do a lot this year, you're really swimming upstream. Seventy-seven per cent of the power-play goals are scored with at least two right shots, so that tells you a lot right there. Not to say there are exceptions to the rule, but when you have five left shots, or even four, your chances of scoring are diminished.

really? i though boyle's time on the PP was more disturbing than his ES minutes
Yes, it was so disturbing seeing him on the ice for every single PP goal the team scored in the playoffs. Just nauseating.![]()
Come on down AV! I believe this is the best available coach we could have got besides a Tippet,Babcock, or Bylsma. I wanted Boucher at first, but AV more then adequately fits the bill. Pretty much anyone but Messier.
Kesler was injured the majority of the year; he's a huge part of their PP.
It was 4th, 1st, and 6th in the three years prior, so...
AV is infinitely better than Bylsma.
That is the most accurate analysis of someone I have ever read. The Cons will drive you crazy as time goes on. Biggest Con has to be conservative with a lead. If the Canucks didnt set a record for blowing 2 goal leads, then they came close to it. His line matching gets out of hand to the point of being stupid and his refusal to develop and play young talent wears thin.
Like most Canuck fans I loved AV initially but he wore out his welcome after last season. He has inherited a damn good team so would predict his first year will be a big success in NY.
Occassionally it seems like Alain Vigneault is too slow to adjust to the opposition. Whether or not he's too slow to adjust or too tactically stubborn with how he wants to attack his opponents, this is something that has burned Vigneault and the Canucks on several occassions in the past.
Whoa okay, ummm. Let's be realistic here. AV doesn't have a cup. Bylsma does, and despite not having much playoff success he's still out performing AV in the playoffs win departments and regular season win department...
Not sure how you classify him better.

Unfair comparison. Penguins have had better teams (though of course the Canucks have had lots of great teams) and honestly a lot of results in the playoffs come down to luck. Even the biggest favorites this postseason where CHI/MIN and PIT/NYI and they were only given like 80% to each win those series. When it gets last you really don't have that large of an edge. Bylsma's results haven't looked so good the last couple of years when his goalies didn't make saves...how did AV's teams look when his goalies didn't make saves? Can't blame the coach for that.
I get that; just looking at the defensive roster for the Canucks would be
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Edler - _______
Garrison - Tanev
Alberts/Ballard/Corrado
So unless Del Zotto can REALLY play that right side well, not much of a trade to be made sadlyMaybe Torts can make a new Golden boy.
