I agree. Disappointing. With the amount of hype both he and Hughes had, cant help but feel the 1st and 2nd overall were below average for typical drafting years.

Kakko was advertised as NHL ready, plays against men, has the size, etc. But he just has no conditioning, he is about as slow as you can be at the NHL level, almost no acceleration, struggles with a one timer, etc.

Biggest positive I've seen from him is that he has great hands. But if you cant skate, doesnt matter much.

Agree and disagree. Agree Kakko has been disappointing, but he hasn’t been terrible. More up and down than anything.

If you have hands but can’t skate, you can be effective if you’re strong. Look at Jagr. You don’t have to be as strong as him, but you need some size and strength.

Also, we may have been spoiled with guys like McDavid/Eichel and Matthews/Laine. I don’t know if we should consider those guys the norm for the performance of #1/2 draft picks in their first year
