I agree. Disappointing. With the amount of hype both he and Hughes had, cant help but feel the 1st and 2nd overall were below average for typical drafting years.

Kakko was advertised as NHL ready, plays against men, has the size, etc. But he just has no conditioning, he is about as slow as you can be at the NHL level, almost no acceleration, struggles with a one timer, etc.

Biggest positive I've seen from him is that he has great hands. But if you cant skate, doesnt matter much.

The disappointment comes from the hype and expectations that they will be phenoms right out of the gate. They’re both so young, there is no need to worry, it’s not even halfway through their rookie seasons

People just have no patience and unrealistic expectations

In fairness, 1st and 2nd overall picks come in and have immediate impact in many drafting seasons.

Even Svechnikov, who struggled a bit his rookie season, scored 20 goals. I cant picture Kakko coming remotely close to that with his current skating ability.

Guys like Landeskog are drafted 2nd overall and puts up 20+ goals and 50+ points rookie season.

That's why people dont have patience when this happens, because top draft picks can have immediate impact.

i looked up his stats because it seems like mckegg accomplishes nothing on the ice when hes out there and it turns out mckegg does in fact have a few points this year. surprising.
