From my point of view we have developed ways to dominate teams and we are actually really good when we got our foot on the gas.
OTOH, we are not good at all when the other team gets a hold on us.

The Rangers are 17-2 when scoring first. Part of scoring first is the goalie making saves to keep the other team off the scoreboard. Talbot made some key saves before the Hagelin goal.
The Rangers have won five of seven. Hopefully Sather has his mind made up about his team. Their play will either increase player value or convince him to be a buyer.

he definitely seems tentative...i'm holding-out hope that he gets his confidence back and returns to being a difference-maker. i think it's a mental thing at the moment. it does happen and plenty often players bounce-back.

On the other hand, they've won 5 of their last 7. 16 games until the Olympic break. 16 in the next 34 days. Lots of hockey in January... they play literally every other day for the next two weeks straight. If they can win 10, given the standings around them, they'll probably be in a pretty good spot with those two weeks off. 8 of next 10 at home. The two following are against the Devils and the Islanders at Yankee Stadium, then the 3 are at home after that. Almost no travel. Finish the stretch at Pittsburgh.

Couple of things--Leafs lost Carl Gunnarsson in the first period after Carl Hagelin hit him in the corner. Gunnarsson is probably their most reliable defenseman in their own end. They played 5 D the rest of the night.
Nash started off fine last night but he got popped in the head by Cody Franson in the first period and after that he didn't play with the same enthusiasm. I think the concussion issues have been ongoing in his mind since he's been back. He's been very leery of going into combat areas and he's not hitting anyone--5 total hits this year. He's avoiding contact as much as possible. It almost seems like he can't wait for this season to be over and done but there's the Olympics right around the corner and he wants to play for Canada. That might be his playoffs/chance at a championship.

Proud of Kreids sticking up for himself against that big Pejorative Slur, his speed and power are amazing...rough night for the big Pejorative Slur, Boyle face washed him too, and had his head pinned against theboards...

The scary thing is that even when he does get oppurtunities to score his shots seems very weak and predictable
I know he has all the skills and we need him to step up, but you can't play effectively while dodging contact
I've mentioned before that sometimes he tries to go through 3 guys which leaves others wide open. Instead of trying to get past 3 guys he needs to pass the pucks to his linemates going hard to the net

Nash could still be producing if, when he drives to the net and draws three defenders, he would just dish the puck.
If he could do that it would really diversify his game and make the d think twice.
As is, I'm not sure I completely buy that he's afraid of another concussion. Driving to the middle and attracting all the D is a surefire way to someday get tagged with an open-ice hit or clipped by an overzealous elbow.

I knew eventually he would have to throw down, the way he plays, he picked one of the toughest guys in the league to start with, with his speed and strength, he's creating alot of open ice for himself...
