Gaborik also had 90 pt pace his first season here.

He was amazing that year...and still wasn't as good as Nash has been.

I always believed that Nash could be a PPG+ player on the right team. He's doing a good job of confirming that belief. I realize it's been 20 games, but he's been the best player for the Rangers in all but maybe 1 or 2 of those games. The only truly bad performance he put up was the game against the Flyers in Philadelphia. Otherwise, he's been good in every game.

Any idea as to who we go with in net tomorrow? On a back to back night, against an injured Senators team, it seems like it would be a smart decision to rest Henrik before what will be a difficult afternoon game against a surging Capitals squad and give Biron the start against the Sens.

I say with the emergence of miller ship Boyle out of town. Bring krieder up make the line krieder miller Pyatt.

I'm loving Haley and halpern on the 4th just need a better option then Bickel. Maybe bring mash up. But fact is Boyle needs to be dealt away

Hard fought game. Both teams wanted W badly, but one was playing to win and another (especially being up 1-0) - not to lose. And if you're playing not to lose - you always lose. I'm not buying all the non-calls stuff since there is not a single blatant non-call against Rangers. Fair win for you. Here is to our next meeting.

The guy who finished top-5 in goals and top-10 in points isn't as good as Nash this year? Give me a break. I know we are all high on the guy, but Gaborik did that with Christiansen... 42 goals and 86 points with Christiansen.

No, I don't think Nash is close to that yet.

Considering what Nash does in terms of driving possession and gaining zone entry, I agree. However it is still a small sample size relative to what Gaborik did over 70+ games. He played like a franchise guy that year. He's never been at that level since. Nash still has a lot to prove.

And I think he's been playing well. But he can be a dummy sometimes, as Torts eloquently put it.

He gets lost in the defensive zone sometimes, and sometimes he's a little indecisive on his shot, otherwise, I think he's been excellent since the move to center. He's fast, good size, great instincts, really looks like they did the right thing in keeping him even though it burns a year off the ELC.

Are there any 3rd line centers in the NHL who produce less then him?
You would think a 3rd line center getting 13-14 minutes a game would have at least a few goals by now.

And what is this, I thought Boyle had one goal (I remember Del Zotto shooting one in off his back), NHL.com has Boyle with 0g 1a in 19 games... :shakehead

He's good in the face off circle, he's a decent grinder, but man... what happened to the minimal offensive ability he had? When the top-6 isn't going, you need your third line to pitch in a goal here and there and they don't. A big part of that is Boyle. We all knew the 20+ goals he scored was a fluke, but at least last season he still scored 11 goals. This season, the offensive production isn't there... AT ALL.

I like Gaborik. I'm not generally one to rag on him a ton. I understand that he's not a puck possession player, and that his game is to finish off a play, rather than set it up.

But, that's exactly it. Nash is a PPG caliber player that is ALSO a puck possession player. Same production, so much more effective with the puck.

I see it from your perspective. I don't think it's a bad or wrong opinion. I just feel differently.

Good points. Rangers played to win that third period, as you said. Isles sat back a bit. Thank you for looking at the officiating properly. So many Isles fans are going around now saying it was the refs that lost the game for them. The refs decided to put the whistles away and let the boys play. They only called blatant things, which unfortunately for you guys, were against you. Rangers did a good job of not doing anything that would be a blatant penalty. Kudos for being level headed about it.

Has to be Biron. I'm okay with that. We're due for a loss but hopefully Marty can turn in a good performance

Was at the game tonight...Have to sa. Amazing showing of support from the Ranger fan base. Came out in hordes to this one. Initially I thought 55/45 especially while they were losing. The heckling was getting to some crazy levels, but when Nash tied the game the place erupted. Way louder that the initial Isles goal from Grabner. Place went into a frenzy. I really think it was closer to 65% Rangers fans in the building. Has to be so deflating for Isles fans to have another club take over your building.

I saw mostly NYR fans on tv, and heard Ranger chants throughout the game.

**** 'em.

Leaving the arena it was mayhem...Rangers fans and a lot of younger fans in groups were super loud. Jumoing around, causing a ruckus! Even in the crazy weather...was snowing pretty good here. But, all over the building it was a crazy celebration...you would have thought it was a playoff game.

I wanted to go to this one, but I just don't feel like driving to Long Island...ever. Looked like a great time though!

Gabby before the Olympics was just as good, if not better then Nash. Idk what the **** happened after that though. Last season he was great, but still not the same.

Steps is turning into a gem in front of our eyes...

and Nash finally looks like that 1st overall. What a bear.

we're not moving Boyle anywhere anything soon I don't think unless we get a superior C in return in a package

Must suck to be an islanders fan.

Owner doesn't want to spend money, so players constantly refuse to report, and to top it off they were too cheap to get a real coach so they picked up the first guy they saw out of the gutter.

Let's see if he can beat his Kings numbers....5 points in 28 games his last year there. Right now he's at 1 in 18.
