LOL. Rangers aren't trading Vesey after wooing him as a UFA and having him on an ELC.

Canes aren't trading their most dynamic scorer, who is only 1 year older than Vesey. Vesey is in a great spot in NYR as they are deep at forward and he doesn't have to be "the guy". If he was traded for Skinner, he would immediately be expected to be "the guy" in Carolina, an offensively inept team.

The Rangers will not take on another forward and especially one who needs to be protected and has a 5.75M salary.

Our choice is easy, we'll stick with Vesey!!!:handclap:

Yep. And Canes aren't trading their best offensive forward for a guy that is unproven and only 1 year younger. Canes choice is easy also. Protection and salary/cap space isn't an issue with the Canes.

Both teams like both players and would gladly take the other if free. But, both players are probably prefered by their current teams over the other, as well, due to a variety of different reasons already mentioned.

Rangers only real need is a puck moving RHD, Vesey is untouchable as are plenty of other Rangers. Skinner has health and salary concerns to make this a NO-brainer of a pass from the NYR.

What are his health concerns? I'll repost this because you must have missed it: Jeff Skinner has only missed 17 games in the past 4 seasons lol, and only 41 games out of a possible 470 in his career. That's equates to 75 games per full season. He's been healthier than Stepan, Nash, and Kreider over the past 4 years . . .

Ignoring value and stuff aside, why are the Rangers trading an ELC away for a guy making $5.75M? Doesn't make sense financially at all.

5.75M is a bargain for a 30 goal scoring 23 year old who also excels at stealing the puck and drawing penalties. His production is especially impressive considering he's been on the offensively challenged Hurricanes his entire career.

If Vesey is as good as you guys think he will be, he should easily hit a bunch of his performance bonuses, so his AAV could potentially be north of 3M.

Skinner has had multiple concussions.

I'll take my chances with Vesey who they just signed and probably made a lot of promises to.

Concussions maybe?

I don't know what performance bonuses he has built in to his contract but if he comes close to what Skinner has produced, he still won't be 5.75 million, so there is that little nugget and he doesn't need to be protected.

Vesey falling in the Rangers lap has the impact of being the high end first rd pick type player they haven't had in years, maybe almost ever. I don't think they will move him any time soon...as well as Buch or Skjei.

Expansion protected, 925K salary and in the top 10 in rookie scoring, currently sitting at #5. Buch at #7 and Skjei at #9.

Skinner is a good player but not a fit on the Rangers with his cap hit and the fact that their top 9 is solidified.
