Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Hurricanes 4/25/13 - We are awful... but PLAYOFFS!L!@L#KOI@$

Yup. Matt ****ing Gilroy. Completely changed the momentum

Yeah, I couldn't believe he was in the lineup, he makes it so easy to hate him too.

Anyway, that was a typical Rangers win to get into the playoffs, never make it easy right?

Btw, Stralman started the play we ended up scoring on in OT. He won a puck battle to maintain possession in our zone. How key has he been since Staal went down?

Jared Staal wearing #13 in his Pro debut, you know who that was a salute to ? :D
I thought he played well, had a great oppurtunity in the 3rd from near the point where Henrik had to make a very good save.

Oh, Devil fans were frothing from the mouth over the prospect of eliminating the Rangers on Saturday. But, you know, hahahaha!

Was frothing, now just hoping the Rangers play for the home crowd, because I truly believe the Rangers can knock off Pitt. Rangers have a big advantage in net in my opinion. Go Rangers, at least on Saturday. After Saturday, I have no rooting interest, just watch and enjoy the playoffs. However, Good Luck!

Screw that. I want no part of Pittsburgh. Give me Bruins or Caps any day. Preferably Caps.

Not the worst game I've seen. Some crucial breakdowns, but at least we played harder.

It has been a pretty frustrating season, but heh, we ****ing made it. wutwut

Yeah, I think Boston may be the most ideal matchup. Lundqvist has been great against Boston throughout his career.

If Staal was healthy, I'd be more inclined to face the Caps. He is instrumental in shutting down Ovechkin and I don't think we beat the Caps last season without Staal. Girardi and McD have been underwhelming this season and I don't think they are up to the challenge of shutting down beast-mode Ovechkin.

Pitt should be avoided like the plague. The 2008 playoffs series against them was an absolute nightmare - from the blown lead in Game 1 to the missed high stick call on Drury when he had blood streaming down his face.

Folks can call me negative but that was a garbage goal (2 actually... Ellis was so far ou of position on Cally's OT winner he was almost in the 2nd row) and garbage win.

I'm glad they're in... I am. But have zero confidence no matter who they face. All season long I've been waiting for this team to show us SOMETHING. Even with their backs against the wall... With their season possibly on the line... They can't bring it.

Reset button. Anything can happen. Hank alone can steal a series... Etc etc etc

All true.

We will NEED them to be true. Big time.

By the way, do you guys still feel Loffen gdt is a jinx?

Thanks for doing this Loffen. And keep doing it.

Don't know what all the whining is about. I'm as negative as anybody and I thought the Rangers dominated last night. Outside of the last goal (and one fluke), Ellis played a great game.

If we had a mediocre power play at best and a penalty kill that was decent I would say maybe we could take the Pens to 6 games. You know they are gonna get tons of powerplays and the way our penalty kill has been and the weapons their powerplay has I would see them scoring 2-3 powerplay goals a game and I doubt we even get one a game. Bottom line is we get dominated on special teams. We can not win.

I couldn't believe he was in the lineup neither. Torts has to take some heat for that. Did he not learn with the Bickel/Gilroy experiment before? Your telling me there were no other spare forwards after Asham decided he couldn't go?

Not a very deep forward squad.

Asham, can't fault him, but, can you? Way to get your wife preggers just in time for the playoffs. Players should have a stipulation in their deals - no baby making from the months of August to October ! :propeller

That's a fair critique.

My position is that the Rangers have had many tough breaks in their history. Last night they caught a very rare bit of luck. Perhaps even more rare they capitalized on that luck. That alone gives me a bit of hope.

They are in. Let's see if they can make this interesting.

While i agree with most of this, a lot of the teams, sans pitt, have been playing pretty poorly. Both Boston and Montreal are pretty crappy right now. I'd prefer one of them in the 1st round.

I also don't really care about the caps.

We haven't really had a legit spare forward all year and that's on Sather. I mentioned in the GDT that the contenders in the league have better options at spare forward than us, even with injuries, but our depth has been absolutely dreadful all year so we have to resort to borderline NHL players who either bring nothing to the table or are liabilities.

Bottom line is, we don't outmatch any playoff team in the east, in any category, besides goaltending.

Our PP is abysmal, and has been for 100 years...

With our D, our goaltending... If we had an anywhere from good to leathal PP I'd give us a good shot at winning it all.

Instead it's non existent. Teams know this. They kill penalties aggressively, which makes us lose confidence. That also take liberties at ES because they know we CAN'T make them pay.
