Would guess that Peca hasn't signed anything yet thus that is the hold up.

Still hope that they stray away from McCarthy (who IIRC, was considering retirement before he took the role with Washington.)

Well, Neil Smith is on record saying that when he was deciding on a coach for the 93-94 season, it was Mike Keenan, Scotty Bowman, or Al Arbour.

and if he is to be believed, Keenan tried to convince the beloved Denis Potvin to join the Rangers that season.

He has to do more than just try to get their compete level up though.

They need a system and structure that works in today's game.

And a system and structure that jives with the personnel they have.

You can try to pound a square peg into a round hole, but if its just not happening, the coach needs to recognize he needs to alter the system to fit the roster.

We aren't poised to get any better on paper, so effort and structure are pretty much all you can talk about anyways.

He's saying the right things but you guys have been watching long enough to know that the PR stuff doesn't mean much.

I think Panarin takes a step back, but the kids take a step foward.
I think fox and miller take massive steps forward, and trouba isn't an anchor around miller.

It’s HF; it's par for the course. If I remember correctly, weren’t a lot of people here clamoring for Gallant? Hopefully this hire works out and people can all happily eat crow.

I wouldn't let a press conference where these guys always tell everyone what they want to hear push me in any direction about how I feel about this hire lol.

Adding Peca to the staff (who has recent success at actually helping young players develop) instead of an old mediocre recycled assistant who is never in the running for a HC job anywhere IS a step in the right direction though.

Yes I believe he did. Along with other guys who I could see them being interested in, such as Garland I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong)

GG had the same mentality...Lavy is gonna be more direct and less concerned with feelings . GG uses a friendly locker room leadership style. Lavy will piss a couple of our prima donnas off which could help move some of these NMC. Its the right move by Drury...if he gets 15 home games in the next 2 years..... the cash Dolan will make..... allows Drury to run team for next 5 years.

Lavi and Peca bode real well for Othmann and Cuylle. I like it so far. Though who knows how we will feel when we are 2-4 in preseason. Haha

I feel pretty safe in the assumption that 21-22 year olds are going to improve. You wouldnt know it from reading some takes here though.
