Rangers have lost 13 out of their last 17 games. What would you do if you were Dolan (the owner of the team) or Drury (the GM)?

What was the deal with trading Trouba?! The Rangers have been extra terrible after that trade. Trouba was the only player on the Rangers who could play hockey with his elbows. He put the fear of god in the opponents. Now there's nobody to keep the opponents on their toes and they can get away with shit they wouldn't have if Trouba was on the ice.

No, we were terrible even before trading Trouba.

The problem is not any one person, it's they collectively stopped trying particularly hard.

Drury is a garbage GM with the bravado of a multiple time Cup winner. The players don't buy the bullshit he's saying with these passive aggressive media statements. He signed Zibanejad to a horrendous extension when Eichel was out there, he never made the backend faster after the Devils series loss in 2023 and then double downed with it last year. Sure it worked for the regular season but the Panthers pummeled their blue line on the rush like the Devils did. You can't win in this league with 1-2 PMD's on the backend. They're basically in a f***ed situation with Igor extended now too. You can't rebuild because you have a 11.5M goalie on the books but the team is just not good enough to compete for a Cup with the roster they have. They need to have a Capitals like retool on the blue line to even be brought back into the discussion and I don't think Drury has the GM smarts to pull that off

One person who isn’t going to be fully committed to this petulant display of solidarity is Fox after his power play to force his way to NYC from CalGary. Drury largely inherited Gortons team. He can end this pity party by shipping guys to Siberia. NYC will always draw free agents. It’s time for some guys to find out.

Looked like a pathetic performance today. For all uniform hate Trouba gets from fans around the league, it seems like he was very well liked in the Rangers locker room. Situation might be worth watching.

Zibanejad should be a trade target, but he has a full NMC.

I still think they'll be a team I'd rather not face in the first round if they make it. Hopefully Lou trades more futures for a chance at the playoffs and squeezes the Isles in for the last spot in the Metro.

Same thing over and over again with Laviolette. Usually great first year then it all falls apart. Fire him (and Drury). It's obvious that the team are playing shit just to get him canned.

They were losing 5-0 to LA mid-way through the second period today.

This team seems like a real mess right now. Honestly, this team reminds me somewhat of the mid 2010s Rangers, who were really good for a while and then fell off quite fast. Granted, this iteration has more high-end talent and an elite defenseman.

But like the mid 2010s Rangers, it seems these Rangers rely heavily on goaltending and have forwards who can produce but aren't great at controlling the play at ES or five on five.
Of course the team is a mess the GM and owner publicly aired the dirty laundry during the summer they traded their captain after saying during the summer he was gone and are publicly unhappy with Kreider. This stuff has an effect on the locker room.

Really only other time he had a good team that happened was 01-02/02-03 with Isles. He did okay with Philly/Carolina/Nashville past 2 years. Makes you wonder if maybe he feels more pressure in New York. NYI is not exactly a media hotbed market but at the time in 02-03 they came off a monster season for first time in ages and the pressure might have been too much for him. as a first time coach and Peca and a few others did not get along with him at the time. NYR is obviously the highest pressure market he's coached in altogether.

Rangers are screwed. An overpaid shesty, panarin is 33 and will start the decline. The rangers will be a playoff bubble team for a number of years. Exactly where you don’t want to be.

Laviolette never seemed like a good coaching fit.

The Rangers players are soft diva like players who are a poor fit to Lavis heavy forechecking system.

Fire him and get a players coach and let the Rangers get back to diving, special teaming, and goalieing their way to wins.

I think I actually agree with this. You can't ignore that Trouba, not too long ago, destroyed a guy as big as Timo Meier.

Getting rid of him half way through the season without any real replacement did what? Allow them to lock in their goalie for a heavy contact? That could have waited until the deadline or offseason. Not to mention the feeling the trade must have left among the remaining players.

They had a players coach and got him fired because they didn't show up in a 7 game series in 2023.

Did they give up 3 goals on 3 straight shifts early in the 2nd period? Or was that just 3 goals on 4 or 5 shifts? The last two goals in that span definitely came on back to back shifts and it was 3 goals in like just a little over 2 minutes I think.

That's definitely a ''Somebody gets fired'' game.

They made the conference finals twice under Drury, but he's been pretty bad and I have a feeling he'll go down as one of the lousier GMs in franchise history.

I've thought all along that anything less than a cup finals appearance probably means he ain't coming back in 2025. What's happened lately might have him gone even before the calendar turns 2025.

Is anyone doing well enough down in Hartford that they can call up purely to mix things up? They've got the cap space to scratch a bunch of guys all at once for a run of games if they're desperate enough.
