This is an embarrassingly bad proposal for NY. Cringeworthy.
Montreal reject this trade.Would you do it? Some Habs fans say no. Curious to see what the Rangers say.

Like who? Carey Price and his 10.5M$ contract? Chiarot who is gonna fetch if we are lucky a late first? Petry and his 0 goals in his last 50 NHL games?
Or maybe you think Drouin or Armia can fetch interesting pieces?
The true leader of this room were Price, Weber and Perry. Now you have good leaders like Edmunson and Anderson. There is a reason Gallagher isn't captain even after all those years being in Montreal.
How can you say he is not a player the Habs need? Who the habs have that has top 6 potential and is 6'3 near 200 pounds in their prospect pool? He could become a skilled big body 20 goals 50 points player which we haven't had in a long time..
This is exactly what's gonna happen. The offer is......This is basically NYR trying to get a big reset on their first overall - Laf. I don't think the organization does this. I'm ok with giving up Kravtsov if he's completely done with this organization but we don't need Harris or Lehkonen, and can't pay Chiarot going forward. There's some question marks on the players going into this draft, so I don't know if giving up all that for a chance at a reset makes sense.
From the other side, it seems like that's a big risk to take going after Laf. Might as well keep your 1st round pick and sell off the other players.

Just red that NYR might be interested in Toffoli. Don’t know if there is leg to it. Does it even make sense NYR fans?
That’s the thing. We don’t actually want Lafreniere. So alls good. You keep your guy we’ll keep our likely top 4 (potentially 1st OA) pick. The Rangers already won 1st OA and the Habs aren't guaranteed anything. Start with the 1st and then continue to add, if you want Lafreniere.

Just an outside perspective but the Rangers definitely don't add a couple 1st'sThat’s the thing. We don’t actually want Lafreniere. So alls good. You keep your guy we’ll keep our likely top 4 (potentially 1st OA) pick.
I never said the original deal was realistic. Or even remotely fair. Only that Montreal doesn’t need to be giving up the farm for Lafreniere just because he’s French. They have holes they can fill using their 1st this year. Lafreniere is a nice player but doesn’t remotely address the teams biggest needs. It’s a case of a proposal not working for either teamJust an outside perspective but the Rangers definitely don't add a couple 1st's

LaF is not strugglingA struggling 1OA, a first, a second, and Kravstov for the lure of Wright, a middle six defender, a bottom six winger, and the rights to Harris?
C'mon man.
I can agree with that. If a team happens to win the lottery, you sure don't want it to be in a year were the the top player is a LW.I never said the original deal was realistic. Yeah like Ovechkin, right?I can agree with that. If a team happens to win the lottery, you sure don't want it to be in a year were the the top player is a LW.

There's the odd example but it's a lot easier to replace a LW, than it is a 1C or 1D.Yeah like Ovechkin, right?
I would take Panarin and Huberdeau at 1st overall too.
It’s worth nothing that the draft is in Montreal this year. Announcing that top 1-4 pick in your home arena holds a huge value to Gorton and whoever the new GM isI can agree with that. If a team happens to win the lottery, you sure don't want it to be in a year were the the top player is a LW.

That’s fair. I don’t think it’s indicative of the fan base in general. But yes. Some doSome Habs fans do. They're the ones who keep making these threads.
