Would you do it? Some Habs fans say no. Curious to see what the Rangers say.

* Lafreniere
* Rangers 2022 1st
* Rangers 2023 2nd
* Kravtsov
for
* Habs 2022 1st (unprotected)
* Chiarot (50% retention... sign/trade possible)
* Lehkonen
* Rights to Harris
Montreal reject this trade.

Like who? Carey Price and his 10.5M$ contract? Chiarot who is gonna fetch if we are lucky a late first? Petry and his 0 goals in his last 50 NHL games?

Or maybe you think Drouin or Armia can fetch interesting pieces?

The true leader of this room were Price, Weber and Perry. Now you have good leaders like Edmunson and Anderson. There is a reason Gallagher isn't captain even after all those years being in Montreal.

How can you say he is not a player the Habs need? Who the habs have that has top 6 potential and is 6'3 near 200 pounds in their prospect pool? He could become a skilled big body 20 goals 50 points player which we haven't had in a long time..

Chiarot, Lehkonen and Toffoli.

And the Habs have been trying to fix themselves through trades for over a decade. They're allowed to actually attack this methodically instead of making a bunch of panic trades and signings like they always do.

This is basically NYR trying to get a big reset on their first overall - Laf. I don't think the organization does this. I'm ok with giving up Kravtsov if he's completely done with this organization but we don't need Harris or Lehkonen, and can't pay Chiarot going forward. There's some question marks on the players going into this draft, so I don't know if giving up all that for a chance at a reset makes sense.

From the other side, it seems like that's a big risk to take going after Laf. Might as well keep your 1st round pick and sell off the other players.
This is exactly what's gonna happen. The offer is......

Not knowing where the Habs are picking is the mystery.

If it was 1st then it changes the out look of the offer a lot more.

Most voted that they take Wright ovr Laf

Experts are saying that Chiarot will get a 1st from a contender.

Wright = Laf ,2nd

Chiarot = 1st but to be fair i think we get a lot later 1st for Chairot

Kravtsov---------Lehkonen

I say if the Habs knew they were getting Wright they Pass.

The Rangers already won 1st OA and the Habs aren't guaranteed anything. Start with the 1st and then continue to add, if you want Lafreniere.

That’s the thing. We don’t actually want Lafreniere. So alls good. You keep your guy we’ll keep our likely top 4 (potentially 1st OA) pick.

Just an outside perspective but the Rangers definitely don't add a couple 1st's

I never said the original deal was realistic. Or even remotely fair. Only that Montreal doesn’t need to be giving up the farm for Lafreniere just because he’s French. They have holes they can fill using their 1st this year. Lafreniere is a nice player but doesn’t remotely address the teams biggest needs. It’s a case of a proposal not working for either team

no for reasons others mentioned
plus we are not dealing youth for vets
accept that reality

will consider youth for youth

only possible exception is something around Krav + Geo + Strome
for Price full retention w. signif +
and THAT IS ONLY
if there is a follow up deal w/Oil to take Price retained another 1.5 down to 3.75
Howev, that is gonna be very very very costly and so basically that's a no

Just red that NYR might be interested in Toffoli. Don’t know if there is leg to it. Does it even make sense NYR fans?
polite answer is no thank you
your source is misinformed
we are looking to move Strome who we can't afford next yr
why would we take on any other vet contracts into next season?
no

A struggling 1OA, a first, a second, and Kravstov for the lure of Wright, a middle six defender, a bottom six winger, and the rights to Harris?

C'mon man.
LaF is not struggling
wasn't McDavid on day 1, but fine we good with that

and the maybe of Wright is too risky

I can agree with that. If a team happens to win the lottery, you sure don't want it to be in a year were the the top player is a LW.

Some Habs fans do. They're the ones who keep making these threads.

I hope they'd say yes, but I'm pretty sure the Rangers decline this offer.

It’s worth nothing that the draft is in Montreal this year. Announcing that top 1-4 pick in your home arena holds a huge value to Gorton and whoever the new GM is

that is the irony of NYR's getting 2OA, then 1OA,
is that Kakko, a RW was BPA his year, then Laf. a LW, concensus 1OA for his

but NYR and fans are not down on Laf, wasn't drafted for what he'd do at age 20, and NYR 2 all-stars ahead of him at LW

they have to figure out another C beyond Zib, but they will

Not sure I would trade our first for all that. At least not for Lafreniere +

We can easily get a first for Chiarot and a 2nd for Lehkonen elsewhere.

Looks like Montreal losing balue by packaging their top players who are on the block
