Confirmed with Link: Rangers extend Parssinen

Is it? Seemed to get into the play and forecheck just fine when I saw him. I dont know though. I mean yeah he is a longshot at this point.
Im open to giving him a cheap contract but he has to shoot. If he can up his shooting he may have a chance.

It's not like the dude fell from the sky three months ago, and it's not like we payed his ass 7 gazillion $ to be the waterboy neither.

No, but he and a handful of players are on team are shit. Would rather we put together at least some half-decent pieces that actually help us get better but he doesn't cost anything, so whatevs right?

Cale "Best D-Man since Orr" Makar had a whopping 2 points in games 1-5 and 7 combined against Dallas.

a year and a half ago, i joined wife on biz trip to Nashville,
cuz Rangers were there that weekend

he did this

I bet this is the goal that gave Drury a stiffy for Parsley Juice.
When we acquired him, there were some sound bites out there of Drury saying something like "we tried to acquire him from Nashville"

I mean, I said he's not shit imo, from what I saw he's far from it. And yes, the contract is a pretty close to costing figuratively nothing, so at the very least this is a "meh" to "ok" signing.

Whining about these kinds of contracts, just rubs me the wrong way. The asinine critique is hurting my brain.

Not saying the dudes is gonna be the saviour, but this is far from being a negative for the team.

Does it count against Lafreniere? You see that footwork from him? That was ugly lol.

Parsinnen is still very young. He's only 24. If we put things in perspective, he had 16 points in 48 games in a year where he played on 3 different teams for an average ice time of ~10:32. In those 48 games, he had 86 hits.

If we had reached the point in the summer where we all started doing deep dives in to guys who could take that next step for relatively low risk/cost, Parsinnen would actually be a good candidate. He's young enough to develop. He plays center. He is decently physical and he produced in the games he played in. Just extrapolating out, assuming the same TOI as he had this year, which was VERY low @ 10:32 per game to 82 games played:

27 points
146 hits
49 blocks
24 years old
center

He has 4 points in 5 games I believe at the World Championship for Team Finland.

Could Drury and Sullivan look at him as the teams 3C next year?

If everything was linear, increasing his minutes per game to 13 minutes over 10 1/2 minutes would have taken his point totals to 20 points in 48 games. Extrapolating that to 82 games has him at 34 points over 82 games.

That's with no improvement taken into account with linemates, deployment, not playing between 3 different teams, playing wing and center, etc.

Based on what I'm seeing, I truly think that if they just this kid play center for a season, they could find themselves a nice 30-40 point 24 year old center.

i agree,
of all the unproven pro forwards they added during the season
(Edmonds, Kaliyev, Brisson)
i believe in him most

partly because, as i have mentioned,
i happened to be in Nashville when he scored his 1st NHL goal vs NYR
and he looked good often that night
