Confirmed with Link: Rangers extend Parssinen

This contract is a massive nothing.
It’s so low that you can basically dump the entire contract in hfd.
And if he can’t make the team, he’s likely to be claimed.

It’s really not that difficult
The qualifying offer was like 800k so I was confused

No issue with this; not like we're tied to him.

He'll be better when the team plays harder, and he's a target for our Hartford youth to try to displace.

His salary is essentially 100% negated if he gets sent down and he’s NHL quality depth with some, albeit long shot/limited upside. I have no problem with it. Let’s see what he can do with a full year and new coach. If he’s even a regular.

Don't really have an issue with this. It's literally peanuts, and he wasn't THAT horrible. 5 points in 11 games for a guy who played what 8 minutes a game? And once he was given 12-13 minutes he started getting points.

Non-issue here.
His numbers are very similar to Kappo Kakko last season, and Kakko had PP1 and 1st Line time in seattle

My reaction is less to do with the cap or Parssinen, but rather the organization looking at this player and thinking this fits the change of direction for the team. If he wasn't a center he probably wouldn't receive an extension, but the team is so thin down the middle that they hope it works out.

Much like a few other players, he needs to a get stronger burst/separation. Maybe also improve the muffin show.

The contract is fine as it doesn't hurt us at all.

He has size, hands and a willingness to mix it up. As others have said there is a player there to unlock.

Sure, but it was 5 points in 2 games, which came at the end of the season where they scored 14 goals in those games. Only 2 of those points didn't involve a top 6 player. (I'm not counting Cuylle as top 6 here). The rest of the time he did nothing.

I'm not saying don't extend here, but the team should still look to address that position if they can bring in somebody providing more of what we need.

I kinda agree, but it’s easier said than done, and especially at just 1.25M.

He’s actually pretty effective down low. Yes he needs to get faster but I didn’t see a player who couldn’t develop further and be effective
