I thought Kreider played well against Philly but didn't get a lot of shots or chances himself...he forechecked and cycled the puck well and setup his linesmates for some good chances, but didn't get many himself.

Against Detroit though he seemed to be doing all of that, and he surprised me some when he carried the puck around the offensive zone a few times. He usually seems to make quick passes and keep the puck moving that way rather than skating it, but he was moving around more out there, which I think is good. He has good hands...he's not a dangler but he has better hands than a lot of guys so any time he can hang onto the puck more and make things happen is a good time.

Hopefully he gets rewarded for it soon

Zuke's goal wasn't pretty but it showed heart and dedication..

.

He made an effort to get to the puck, between 2 players, and another 3 covering the goal he put in the rebound lying horizontaly.

While Brassards OT winner was pure class, zuccs goal was hopefully not as lucky as it seemed :p

Kreider in two games so far. 5 shots on goal and 9 hits. That's good--more like we would want to see. Very involved last night--wasn't hesitating or thinking too much. He needs to keep it up.

Talbot--really solid--not spectacular but no bad goals and a lot of quality saves. Good rebound control so far--handles the puck pretty well.

First sightings of Pouliot and Zuccarello.

Dorsett had a good game as well.

Don't like Del Zotto on the right side.

He easily could have had 2 goals last night. The one shot would have been a goal but it his dorseet's skate. the other one was his stickhandling during overtime which was tremendous. I still dont know how that dint go in. If he continues to play like he has been since being called up he will score a lot of goals. I think he is finally starting to get it and never wants to see Hartford again :)

Kreider IMO is very capable of holding onto the puck and powering through other players ala Jagr/Dubinsky. He doesn't do it often enough--in the past he's often tried to force plays that aren't there and turned the puck over. He's been more involved since his call up--taking the body more and getting some good opportunities. Less hesitation so far.

I was at the game and it was a great team win. I kept on thinking for the love of God they deserve 2 pts come on.

yea I wanted to kill Pyatt, I already don't like him and he took stupid penalties that almost cost the team. His line was actually good though. I thought Dorsett was solid. I also kept thinking his would be a good 4th line with everyone healthy

All in all great night!

Dorsett played a good game, kept himself under control and didn't have any brain farts...if he can play under control like that consistently he'll be an asset

Dorsett has been better and has had some glorious scoring chances in the last two games. Too bad he can't finish. It's like seeing Higgins all over again.

I thought his chance in the first period where he took a loose puck out in front and tried to backhand it in was probably his best chance. Good thought good move, Howard just stayed with him and he couldn't elevate the shot enough

Eh, I think he has that ability but it's not really his game overall. Still, working the boards better and holding onto the puck to create chances last night was a welcome thing to see. Just keep doing it!

Also re: Talbot. Good to see that at least in limited viewing, he seems to have the ability to play solid at the NHL level. He does play a lot like Lundqvist now...and I like his technique much more than Biron's. He looks more solid and calm in there and moves better. Marty always moved awkwardly in net.

Hopefully he keeps it up, he looked good. A solid backup is always important, especially when your starter is nursing an injury...

Kreider needs to shoot the puck more. He had a few chances to shoot it in the first period. Skating into the offensive zone and he passes the puck to Richards. Let it rip. I read a quote from AV about Kreider on Thursday.

What does Chris Kreider add to the lineup, “speed, size and going to the net hard. I saw him today, he shoots the puck as well as I have seen any player shoot the puck. Hopefully he can put those attribute together and help us win a game against Philly.”

Kreider is being used in front of the net. Net presence. That's how he should be used on the PP. AV talked about teaching Kreider how to play that role back in September. He put Kesler there.

The Rangers have to string a few wins together before jumping to conclusions that they have turned a corner. It's no surprise that the Rangers have exerted their best efforts of the season in their 3 wins, too bad we have not seen them to do this consistently.

The home opener will be a good test. The Rangers have played some real stinkers against Montreal, although they do tend to play better against them at home. They have to play like they did last night if they want to win.

Kreider also has good passing ability. Yes i want him shooting more than passing but he has done a good job passing toward the net like last night in ot that was nearly a goal

Whether or not this team will get healthy and competitive aside -

This was a really big win to close out the road trip. 3-6 looks a hell of a lot better than 2-7, which is where i felt they were headed after those west coast bombs.

Also important is that they've played less games than everyone in the conference, and all 3 wins are ROWs. If you are looking at it longterm this was a much needed 2 points. They are only 1 ROW off of 7th in the conference believe it or not.

But - Stepan is still invisible for large stretches (not happy about that), there are still tons of forwards without points and the defense, while doing a better job in their own zone - hasnt contributed much lately to the offense. (Except John Moore whos been jumping up nicely seemingly every game)

But it felt like they treated this game like a playoff game, probably because they didnt want to come back to a home opener completely embarrassed at 2-7. At least this gets the building into it... a little more.

Kreider can contribute to this team without much offense if he keeps skating hard, engages in physical play, ect. Chimera has been a good player for many years.

I agree but sooner or later he is gonna score some goals. i mean its only been 2 games and he easily could have had 2-3 goals. Gotta give Howard credit last night he made some bigtime saves. Also Stepan needs to wake up a bit. I think Kreider needs stepan and richards to pass him the puck near the net more which they havent done yet

your nit picking now.. guy played very well.. entire team did.. we carried the pace the entire game..not one person had a bad game..

Would be very pleased if Kreider can become someone like Kessler in front of the net. He played well yesterday but really has to shot the puck as you said, had one great chance right in the slot but slide it to Brad on his left and nothing came out of it.

If u take everything into consideration this brutal 9 game trip at 3-6 isn't too bad.I know this is a sky is falling forum 99 percent of the time but look at the facts..3 top players missing learning a new system new coach ect...if we could have stolen one in Philly or StL it would have been a success...

They could've won in St. Louis were it not for the combined effort of Dorsett and Biron, but I wouldn't have viewed a win in Philly as "stealing" one. That's one they had stolen from them. NJ too.

None of the factors you mentioned above excuses the piss poor effort we saw in many of the losses...had they played hard in those losses it would be a different board.

3 shots last night, not bad. They were good scoring chances too

Left wing Chris Kreider, perhaps the fastest skater on the Rangers, is learning to ease off the throttle. It was something he tried to alter during his stay in Hartford before he was recalled last Monday.

"I'm slowing my skating down a little bit . . . trying not to get too far ahead of the play, timing plays a little bit better,'' said Kreider, 22, who picked up his first point, an assist on Brad Richards' goal, in Philadelphia. In early preseason games, he said, "I was just going a million miles per hour every shift; instead of trying to do A, B and C, just try to focus on A."

Vigneault on players that impressed him: “We had a lot of guys stand out in my mind. Kreids (Chris Kreider) tonight in my mind had a real strong game protecting the puck, making it hard on their D. Boylezee’s line (yes, Brian Boyle – never heard that one before), and obviously Pouliot and Brass tonight spent a lot of time in their end.â€
