we can do chicken egg with "kakko never showed he deserved a real role" - "kakko was never given a real role," but what you wrote and what I responded to wasn't about his p/60.

you denigrated his defensive game by pointing to a lack of deployment on PK - something over which he has absolutely no control. I responded by pointing out the hypocrisy of that argument given you *have* demanded Laf get more PP time.

the fact that you conveniently ignored this winning point surely puts a tally in my column. that brings the score to:

23,588 - noncents
4,276 - kakko
3.112 - kreider
541 - bern
87 - strome
3 - mcranger
2 - nemeth
0 - RF1994

I definitely have more than 3

Kakko gets brought up in every thread. Brutal. Happy the guy is doing the bare minimum he struggled with here but do we need a recap for every game he's in, in every thread?
Seriously.

I came in here to read about a player I don't know much about, not to hear the shit about KK I know all too well.

yup, Kakko right in the middle of it with Siegenthaler.

50+ point pace with Seattle, finding his groove, playing with pace (different than skating fast) and getting involved. Dumb Rongites "why couldn't he do that with us!? He must've needed the wake up call like JTM!"

no, actually, it's just when you give a guy an opportunity and get him involved, he plays involved.

I remember how before last season it was a constant JV/Varsity setup on this team. ooh the kids line! they're so cute! they're just lil kids!

as soon as the game mattered, late and close, they were stapled to the f***in bench.

over
and over
and over again

i don't care what numbers you're looking at, or whether you think they're excuses. when you tell a player through actions that they don't matter, they won't matter.

Sometimes a trade will help a young guy trying to find his game. I think there's some of that maybe with Kakko here though it's still kind of early in his Seattle days. I don't think it helped him that both Mika and Kreider were finally getting to their full potential and Panarin was coming into the mix. It was a kind of a mixed blessing for the Rangers to win the lottery with both him and Lafreniere because we already had the makings of a good offense. Most bottom 5 teams don't and because of that guys like Jack Hughes or Stutzle get full opportunity pretty much from the get go. It can be a mixed blessing there too. The Devils have a stutter last year but they've become a good team......Ottawa not so much which just tells us there isn't really a formula that's going to work for everyone.

to infuse a talented lineup with more young talent is only a "mixed blessing" - ie a bad thing - if the organization f***s it up or if the extant roster creates an issue. It seems like what has happened here was a bit of both.

Dallas is a great example of how powerful a successful young talent infusion can be.

Someone mentioned it, but hopefully he can regain form and be a productive player in the mold of a Toffoli

I 100% don't care if a guy takes a ton of shots and is a volume shooter if he has a "good" shot as long as he's not the centerpiece of the offense and we're not paying him stupid money

Shoot away, son.

Yup. Picked off the waivers yesterday, absolutely no practice time or anything resembling normal game preparation but it’s “odd” that he’s not playing today. smh
Most players would get plugged in the day after. Give him mostly pp time then since that's his specialty and we need help there and limited 5 on 5. Don't syh at me buddy .

IDK we're not exactly in the thick of a playoff race where we need a contribution from him immediately. I don't see any issues with giving him time to get acclimated.

Im gonna disagree here. As much as we have sucked. We are still in the thick of the race.

We are 4pts out only. It feels like 20 out, but its still only 4pts

We're not? Lol
I'm not saying Drury is waving the white flag but the guy shipped out Trouba and Kakko for futures and fringe players, and would probably ship out other guys if a good deal came around. Doesn't exactly appear that the front office thinks much of our current chances. We've literally been the worst team in the league over the last 20 games.

Even then, if you believe we're in the race, seems unlikely that Kaliyev is going to step right into the lineup and move the needle. He's a longer-term investment IMO.

Im not convinced drury waived the white flag until we start selling off lindgren, smith etc.

Ao far he got rid of two disgruntles. And both those trades helped shore up our dcore immediately which can be interpreted as not really giving up.

but irregardless, being 4 pts in is still in the race.

I for one, still think we can easily make the playoffs, even though i would rather Drury waive the white flag and actually start the selloff and rebuild/retool

I said he didn't wave the flag. I agree with that. But I think it's clear our season is heading down the drain quickly with no real end in sight and the FO is starting to look to the team's future.

If they thought Kaliyev could help immediately move the needle they probably would have made a minor trade to acquire him rather than hoping he made it to 7th or whatever on waivers. That's my whole point, he wasn't a move made to fix anything now and it's not odd they're giving the dude a f***ing day or two to get settled in before throwing him to the wolves.

Oh misread your statement. my bad!

I agree i think our season is spiraling, i just also see that the east low key sucks and all it might take is a run. We also have been playing a little better as of late.

Also agree about Kaliyev. Just misread the statmebt.

There’s something to be said about shooting from all angles. It’s not just about scoring from those angles, it’s getting pucks in and around the net and causing havoc when doing it. He should help with that

Ok so let’s look at it logically, rather than “he must play the next day”.

Should Kaliev replace Lafreniere, Panarin, Smith, Berard, Cuylle? Nope. Should he then replace Brodzinsky? That would mean Kaliev without practice would be joining Zibanejad - Smith (and taking of Brodz who had a good game in a win previously). Does this make sense to you?
