Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Caps: Trade Del Zotto!!!

He had a terrible game, struggled all night against the transition. got caught in between all night.

He worries me because i remember hearing Torts always having to be on Stralman to get him on his game. (24/7 i believe )

I see where you're going, but wasting $6+ million on a 39 y/I brad richards is not wise management. The rangers need out of that contract. It was written according to a different set of rules.

Honestly, the Rangers will have plenty of room for their players. Remember guys like Pyatt, Boyle, and Pouliot should be gone. Younger players filling the void on ELC or cheaper 2nd contracts. Richards can be retained. As ham and Biron deals gone as well. Still feel Richards is not that play for contract guy. He was embarrassed and now is working to make that never happen again. He looks quicker and confident.

I agree the officiating as a whole was ridiculous, but that Richards penalty was something else.

What game were you watching, honestly?

Strålman was quite obviously the best Ranger defenceman on the breakout and in transition. He had two bad mistakes and a few misplays, but that's his game. He is effective because he is calm with the puck and takes risks, sometimes it backfires. But the good significantly outweighs the bad.

We dominated 5v5 and that was a fantastic sight. But we only dominated when Staal-Strålman were on the ice. When the other two pairings were on the game was pretty evenly matched. And they dominated despite getting 50/50 zone starts. Our top line posted similar possession numbers, but they had an 80-20 offensive zone start bias.

Look. Strålman's game isn't very obvious, but it sure as hell is effective. He will lead our defencemen in +/- at season's end by a mile.

Nobody realizes this isn't the game of old where players police themselves and the refs let it be, just like when Boyle went after whoever that was the refs aren't afraid to throw guys in the box for 4 minutes at a time to keep the game under control.

you can hear Pierre stating how angry the bench was... Apparently Callahan was about to wreak havoc and AV calmed him down
 
As for my take on the game I have this...

Players who Shined
Richards, Hank, Cally, Brass

Players who had a Really Solid Game
The Moores, McD, Zucc, Step, Staal

Players who Mother****ing Suck
Pyatt, Pouliot, Del Zotto

...All the rest had a good game.

Now for my take. First off, WTF Pouliot?!!! That was some ****** hockey bro. That was the worst little breakaway that I've ever seen. Seriously needs to be demoted to 4th line and let Fast move up. He's deserved it. Second... Pyatt. This actually wasn't a bad game for him, but I feel that we aren't going to see that drive and motivation for a while. Please trade him for a 6th/7th!! Third... Del Zotto. Dude! Falk had a good game, your kind of in the *******. Seriously get well soon so we can move your ass already. Please trade for an upgrade or prospects/picks or something.

Just really wanted to also state that Beaver really has turned it around and is the player we signed him to be. By far our best forward. Hope he can keep it up. Brassard, you'll get one eventually man keep it up. Zucc and Fast worked really hard and will also eventually squeeze one in. We need to build on this win.

PS- Can't wait for Hagelin's return just saying. The speed is a necessity.

I'm happy he's gonna lead the team in +\- at the season end. Malik and rosy use to hold that title and we all know how effective them two were.

To me Stralman had a bad game. Nothing to do with him taking risks , it looked like he couldn't handle the speed from the quick transition of the captials. He looked flat footed and got caught in between. I understand the difference from that and when he takes a risk pinching which I had no problem with.

I thought the refs were inconsistent so I didn't talk about his two penalties against a team that has the best power play in the league

Hank was really good, his overall motion in the crease seemed much more confident. He just looked entirely different.

Moore should get more PP time, we all have been saying it for many games now.

Richards came to play, very good to see.

Still a lot of things that could be better. We outplayed DC with heart.
Many overreacted, I did too, but we are good and will bounce back big time. Certainly if Hank keeps playing like he was.

I'd still love to have a top 10 pick, just to get Draisaitl. (the nationality thing just fortifies my wanting of the kid, he just is legit.)

Ps.: that **** from Brouwer, I didn't even notice, what a dirty play!

Hehe, he MUST be related to Peter Draisaitl right? Always loved him, great player. Not sure how long ago he played, doesn't seem like that long ago.

Which is too bad because 5 years out of 6 would be pretty amazing for matchups.

With the exception of 09-10 where we were a shootout win away from playing WAS in the first round, fate has brought these teams together.

I though he was the son of some guy I heard of. Turns out thats the Kühnhackls :laugh:

I saw his name and the "hipe". Watched some videos ... kid is legit!
