You guys jump on Miller a little too quickly IMO, not the best display of hockey I've ever seen but far from the worst and he showed just as much as Pouliot and Zucc have recently. His experiment lasts until Hags is back at least and in that time he will probably surpass one of those two in the lineup.

I too, agree with this. Didnt wow anyone last night but he was not horrendous. Had some good moments on the forecheck.

I agree, he's prone to some mistakes but I like that he brings a little bit of size and nasty to our D corps.

I like Falk and his size but there must be a reason why, on a cheap contract, he was dealt for Ben Ferreio after so many NHL games.

Cause he's a bottom pairing guy whose prone to some mistakes and isn't the fastest skater but he does provide some things we have little to nothing of. Also Minnesota has some pretty good players on the blue line and wanted to make room for guys like Dumba coming up.

It doesn't matter if Miller plays in the NHL this year or not. He was mishandled last year, where he shouldn't have been in the NHL long enough to burn a year off his contract.

I went last March on a Sunday and it was great, I wasn't sure if we would get the same turnout early in the season. Seemed like the upper deck was generating a lot of noise.
Anybody go?

I can't say enough about Callahans goal last night. That's the way to set an example. If he's gonna lead this team he needs to hustle like that, score big goals and earn his points the old-fashioned way. He doesn't have the best skill set, but he can outwork anyone in the league.

Really good effort last night. Definitely liked what I saw. That top line was absolutely outstanding. We need to lock that down as a unit moving forward.

Great effort by the defense. Moore was great. Staal was great. Girardi looked good. McDonagh was fantastic against Ovie. Stralman was good for the most part, but made a few ugly mistakes. Falk was surprisingly stable as well. Del Zotto should be nervous.

Hank was very good. Shaky to start, but he looked like his old self after that.

Great job on the bench by AV. Would have loved to see someone run Brouwer after that cheapshot, but in a tight game like that you can't give them a chance to get back into it. Glad AV kept the team calm and worked the refs well.

Pouliot is trying too hard. He needs to just keep things simple and crash the net. Zucc looked alright, but needs to shoot the puck more. He waits too long looking for a pass and then the chance is gone.

Good game from Stepan. Looks like he's getting more comfortable and his conditioning is improving.

Very solid effort from the bottom lines. Moore, Boyle and Dorsett looked good. As did Fast. Miller was alright, and Pyatt was meh, but overall I liked what I saw from the group.

Lineup should be much stronger when Hagelin and Nash can reunited with Steps.

Richie - Brass - Cally
Pouliot - Moore - Zucc
Pyatt - Boyle - Dorsett

Let Miller and Fast go back to the Wolfpack and keep developing. The 3C spot is a bit weak, but overall that group is solid.

He's got skills ... the turnaround/pass to Richards was very nice. Too bad the shot hit the post.

For what it's worth, Dominic Moore is a pretty solid 3rd line center. He's played that position before, and he's a great defensive player, which after all that's what AV wants out of his 3rd line.

Having Brassard and Richards on the same line is the same thing. Miller on the wing is another one. It helps on face-offs because the main center can cheat with no worry of being thrown out.

I'm pleasantly surprised with how well this Richard at "LW/ Split time with the center on his line" has gone. He looks really good, a difference maker. I don't think he looks like he did in his first year here, I think he looks much better so far.

I was in section 420 and there was a row of Rangers fans in front of me who were being loud. Helped that Caps fans seemed dispirited after the 2nd period goals

Yeah, we had more of that when Dubinsky and Anisimov were still here. Hell, Christensen and Mitchell too. I don't want to bring up another Dubinsky/Anisimov debate. Just want to mention that that kind of versatility is always useful to have in the lineup and that we've seen it before.

The only way his contract would have slid is if he stayed in juniors. Every player loses a year off their contract if they play in the AHL.

edit: Oh wait, since he was 19 last season, if he played less than 10 NHL games, would he have been required to be sent back to juniors?

Not required, but if the Rangers had opted to play him less games (I think the number was actually 6 last year with the lockout shortening), and then sent him back to juniors, his contract would've slid.

I was pleased with what I saw last night... still got some room to improve but it looked better then a few of the other games... Hank looked good... hopefully this game and Jersey will be able to get him to build some confidence cause it seemed like he had none.

D. Moore had his best game of the season last night. He, along with Boyle and Dorsett, can be a really good 4th line going forward.

The problem is the lack of personnel available for the middle of the lineup - the bottom of the top 6 and the 3rd line.

Miller, Zuccarello, Pouliot, Pyatt. These guys ain't cutting it.

Agreed. I doubt he would have prepared this hard in the offseason if he wasn't playing in a season in which he is a buyout candidate.

It's frustrating because his lousy performance last season may have been preventable. He was out of shape and didn't look ready to play after the lockout.

There was 11-12 when VAN had Hodgson as their 3rd center. Then Mike Gillis traded him for Kassian.
