entire board turns 180, bring on all the positive threads about how good this team is.

i didnt want to believe the fans of all of pouliots former teams, because he has skill and has shown flashes of it, but hes not a good hockey player just really doesnt seam to have any hockey sense whatsoever

What's wrong with feeling good after a much needed win? Apparently you can't celebrate victories or lament losses around here without stepping on toes.

Indeed. For some reason we're expected to remain in a straight line despite the results. My ass. My emotions go as the team goes. And today is a good day.

Fast was encouraging tonight.

Agreed... but I am worried about his size. Don't get me wrong - I'm a fan and have been since he was drafted. And the good news is that he's got the right game for his frame - but he does need to bulk up a little if he wants to be a difference maker.

That said, it can't be underestimated how well he's playing in the role he's been assigned. I counted at least half a dozen smart defensive plays he made in all three zones this game.

eh, I'm happy the Rangers won. But, I'm not quite as optimistic as others. First off, Washington was absolute garbage in this game.

Secondly, I was a bit concerned with the Rangers reverting back to their old breakout system and Zone D. I think its helpful in the short term, given the injuries and all. But, I can't help but think that in the long term it will lead right back to what we saw with Torts.

With all that said, the PP looks much improved from previous seasons. The Rangers also showed more signs of some offensive creativity on the cycle(but they didn't sustain it).

I still feel the Rangers have too many passengers on this team. They need to make some roster decisions within the next month and a half imo.

I'm still not impressed at all with Pouliot. I think moving Del Z for a solid forward is also not a bad idea. I hope Faulk isn't a regular though....

With this win, it should put me around 2500 vcash, which I'm going to throw on the Rangers beating NJ on Saturday! :D

I'm with ya buddy, the roller coaster ride is part of the fun! Still gotta keep things in perspective but after the last few games we all deserve to enjoy this win!

Really glad Stepan looks to be ok.

Above all else, really excited to see a good defensive effort for just about 60 min. That needs to be the team's foundation.

To me, this game was 2 points and also a chance for the team to settle down.
I'm quite aware of how bad the Capitals can be, but you know what, the Rangers closed down a team that has been inflicting some damage.
The win does mean something. They had the crap beat out of them, now they are trying to find themselves.

Good win NYR.

biggest accomplishment of the night was that 5 on 3 kill. I like to be optimistic but I was almost 100% sure we were getting scored on there.

Now that the hate train has moved on to Pouliot, I thought the Zuc-Brass-Pou line looked really good the first three games, and in the losses were the only line with any sustained offense.

does anyone remember the tic tac toe passing in phoenix where smith robbed him?

That line's gone now and Pou is playing with people who cannot set up plays, simple as that.

Or maybe Pouliot is another journeymen enigma who sucks? Until he proves me wrong that's exactly what he is!

Same, but then again, I expect them to be scored on during any 5 on 3. They looked like a different team tonight. I was worried since Nash is still out, but the d played very well. The Caps got 22 shots, which is half of what I thought they would get.

The other thing to mention here is that they shutout the team with the best PP in the league. So, while a win is nice, the effort required to pitch a shutout against these guys is almost the more encouraging aspect.

Still not thrilled with the Rangers' offense, however. What were those DZ for Yakupov proposals again...?

The Rangers lucked out of that 5 on 3 to be honest, Lots of flubbed shots and broken sticks for the Caps. Caps had the Rangers dead to rights at least 3 times on the kill and just couldn't finish...

Love seeing the rangers not respond to stepan getting hit like that. That was no accident.

Nash head shot = no response

Stepan head shot = no response

Glad he returned but that was a real dangerous play

I thought for sure Ward was gonna bury that one chance, happy he didn't obviously.

Ok I know OP was joking, but can we actually trade Del Zotto now? :naughty:

I mean I'm all for keeping Del Z and not giving him PP time at this point. I think he should just start concentrating on what he is going to become: a two way defender. I mean Del Z is light years ahead of Faulk...

Still, if they can get a quality forward for him; I would at least listen to some of the offers...
