Post-Game Talk: Rangers @ Caps Game 5: see you on sunday

2-10 in his last 12 playoff OT's -- almost all those losses in the first OT.

Tied after 60 -- its on the goalie. Plain and simple.

That's insane and illogical. Hank made at least 4 highlight reel saves inside of 10 minutes. There's only so much you can ask for.

Am I blind or did that shot in OT never hit Hank? I saw several times. It hit off either a Cap or a Ranger in front and came right to Ribeiro. That's not on him. Hanks was responsible for ZERO goals today.

I think it bounced of Brouwers skate. It never touched Hank. It was a lucky bounce that Washington's version of Marchand (read: Rat faced Diver) put it.

Just watched it again, ugh. Original shot hits Moore, Brass fails on the clear, shot from the point either deflects off Brouwer or Stralman to Riberio, looked like it was off Brouwer to Riberio.

Can people stop longing for last year's team? I understand in the regular season. I remember we came off our most emotional win in at least 5 years went to Washington for game 6 and had a complete no show. WAY worse than today. We lost 2-1. The only goal that we scored was a complete fluke. We had ZERO offense that game. At least today we had a very solid 1st period and a pretty good OT. That game was about as pathetically played as I've seen a game played in years. Let's stop pretending that that team came to play every game.

2 goals in 196 minutes in Washington.. no goalie is going to win with that. That is as atrocious offensive production as it gets.

Gotta take care of business at home, if we do that Game 7 is the very next day and anything can happen.
Nash needs to stop doing that GD come in and turn his back to the net bullcrap, it rarely works and when it does, neckbeard has another of his deceptive stat padding saves. His wrist shot is so dirty, whenever he comes into the zone theres multiple guys on him, SHOOT, who knows, you get lucky and it goes thru a few legs and neckbeard cant see it.

Something is up with Nash's Leg(s). He has no burst, he has no strength. He has been completely useless. Earlier in the season when he wasn't scoring points he was at least driving hard to the net. It looks like his stride is off. There is something wrong with him.

Im not pinning the entire blame on Lundqvist. Obviously the team in front of him has some issues.

The fact that some of you are claiming hes absolved of any wrongdoing is wrong.

Everybody shares the blame. Lundqvist for whatever reason is not a winning goalie when games go to OT.

My this sounds familiar.

But you're also citing one game from last years, in my opinion, underachieving playoff run. Rangers played 20 games in that post season.

My point is that we traded a team that had a ton of history, a ton of cohesion, and a great team culture for a bunch of question marks.

I do like Nash's game better than Gaboriks. I like Brassard's better than Artie's (though AA was better on the boards). Moore has been a revelation. I miss the hell out of Dubinsky.

Torts had HIS team last year. Tough hockey, forecheck like hell, block shots, grind wins out. That locker room culture was custom built around the guys we had. There was a real band of brothers thing going on, and they played harder for it.

and now, 3/4ths of our team hasn't even seen a Torts training camp. And people are SURPRISED when we look unprepared. I think we may see some of that in the coming years. The team gets to know itself a bit better, maybe. You don't just throw a bunch of names into a lineup and expect them to play like a team.

That's fair, but how can you blame him for this OT goal? It wasn't close to his fault. Neither was the one in game 2. But this one even less so.

We know the reason: the team in that OT.

I don't think there's a man alive who could had made that save. Hank was in position for the shot, it bounced off a skate HALF A FOOT in front of him and landed squarely on an unguarded Ribero's stick. You'd need a Rube Goldberg device to make a tougher save.

0-4 on the PP for the Rangers

1-2 on the PP for the Capitals..

this is a BIG ISSUE.. this cost us this game.

That game could have gone to four ots and we weren't going to score. This team's offense and powerplay on the road is an abomination. Hank has a bad ot record because this team can't score in a whorehouse.

If a Princess had balls shed be a Prince.

If.....

Bottom line is the Rangers need to score first in OT, its sudden death - first team to put that little black thing in the net wins. Many years ago, it used to be whatever goalie had the most saves after 20 OT minutes - but people thought that was stupid.

Some of the Ranger teams that didn't make the playoffs for 7 years straight were more affective and exciting than this team is. Coach has to go, his system is garbage and he is ruining players.

Let's talk about captains.

Jonathan Toews. Claude Giroux. Dustin Brown. Henrik Zetterberg. Daniel Alfredsson. Joe Thronton (Right, Joe Thornton, look it up). Vinny Lecavalier. Believe it or not, Alex Ovechkin.

All of these fine specimens have two things in common: 1)Well the obvious, they're all captains. 2) They're all as good or better in the playoffs than they are in the regular season.

What about the Rangers? Oh yeah, Ryan Callahan. 0.56 PPG in the regular season. 0.41 in the playoffs. Significantly worse.

Maybe it's time to question whether Callahan is good enough when the games get important to be carrying that letter around.

1) That team was an outlier. Relatively similar teams finished 6-8 every year before that (the Dubinsky/Anisimov teams). That team had a fluke year. A similar team before that year was 8th in east and 1-4 in the playoffs.

2) This team is a lot more talented. We're playing a better team than any of the 2 we beat last year, this year.

3) An underachieving playoff run is a negative if anything.
