you haven't been paying attention this season. This "random" backup has been a big part of the Avs season. 20-7 is not random. He's been huge for the Avs this season with Grubauer out. For a bit he actually took over the #1 goalie spot but then got injured himself and so the starter role has been bouncing back and forth.
