Am I the only one who think we had a set-back but otherwise likes what he's seen from the team lately? I have high hopes from the Zucc line. Sure we need some more help with scoring but I think we're on our way and that tonight was just a write-off.

I'm with you on this. I'm not as upset about this loss. I think they will come out wednesday and get a win. I think they will follow it up with a solid effort against Boston. They tend to play Boston tough.

Same old song and dance with this offensively inept team. Take 40 shots, get shutout, leave the mediocre goalie who got the shutout full of confidence when in fact, he didn't do ****.

I wonder when the song on this album finally changes.

after a much needed, long-overdue overhaul…hopefully

A game like this would have been a loss either way. We lost the game and these things happen, but I think if we had a little bit more scoring, maybe one or two guys who were able to finish once in a while, we would be 6+ games over .500 right now. The team isn't bad and we've come a long way since the first week of the season, this team doesn't suck at all, just needs a tiny dash of confidence and most likely a trade or two to shake things up.

Also, I wouldn't at all mind seeing MDZ traded here soon he is just painful to watch.

Lundqvist did play pretty poorly.

But this argument that giving up a soft goal "takes the wind out of the team's sales" is such a ********* argument. Wasn't Vigneault supposed to unlock the offense so we didnt have to worry about Lundqvist playing out of his mind every night? What happened with that?

The funny thing is the team is creating more chances that I can remember EVER under Torts. Except they just can't score. This team is not missing anyone from the team that finished the season last season that was offensively inept but were still better at scoring. They weren't even this bad early last season offensively when they had no depth and a completely useless Gabby and Richards. They're creating chances, they just can't finish to save their lives. The offense is not AV's fault. The guy can't finish chances for them.

Hey, its a good thing these guys got out from under the previous militant regime and can just go have fun out there

Yeah there was alot of times where I would have preferred less Torts, but having him tell it like it is after a loss like that was one of his strong points.

Hey let's face it, Lundqvist sucks ass this season and it's exposing the team hardcore. On the upside he is a very good goalie and even if this season is a waste he sure as **** isn't getting his 8mil for 8 years at this rate so that bodes well going forward.

People can ***** and moan how we got shutout, but let's be honest it's hockey when your goalie gives up a **** goal 2 minutes into the game it deflates things a bit.

What's even worse is knowing that the game was over at that point

bro....im as huge a torts supporter as youre gonna find, but these replies too are getting not only old, but make you seem like a spoiled little kid saying " i told ya so" 50,000 times a day. we get it...believe me. theres not a person on this board who doesnt get where you stand on this.

I'm done with this team.

Not because we lost 5-0, but because there were no Russian rifle celebrations.

What has this team to come to?

If the Rangers below average finishing ability from the Torts seasons didn't regress to epically bad levels and Lundqvist played like he did those seasons on average I'm convinced we'd be the best team in the league right now. They would have seriously gone on a similar streak to what Boston went on when they started THEIR season 2-6 start in 11-12. They wouldn't score at that clip but they'd have lost maybe 3 games since starting 2-6. They get amazing chances almost in every game and outshoot pretty much every team. The defense has for the most part been really good since that start (not good today, though it wasn't like they got dominated every shift, just made a bunch of **** ups).

**** I said best team in the league I meant best team in the east. Can't edit it, so I have to write extra posts explaining that I ****ed up (that will show me). We wouldn't be the best team in the league right now. And by best team I mean have the most points in the east. Of course we wouldn't be the best team in the league or have the best record.

Well that sucked.

Need more from Nash, Richie, Cally, Hank and Stepan. Not good enough. Again

It's only a matter of time before the shots actually start going in. Rangers create a bunch of chances, just can't finish.

This is lottery-logic. If you continue to do the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Yeah, I suspect you know where I'm going with this.

They need to change something, not expect that continuing to do the same will suddenly make them a great team.

Anyone who believes that Nash wasn't a good player tonight is clueless about hockey or has a pre-existing agenda.

Seriously.

No but really sooner or later all these chances are going to go in and it will be raining goals like skittles from a rainbow!

By sooner or later I mean later, much later.

Don't worry, it's only preseason.

I refuse to be concerned and will withhold judgment about this team until Game 70.

And at that point, it will be almost playoff time where anything can happen! The Kings won as an 8th seed so that means we can too!

Entering year 5 of this quote....

********. They didn't create anywhere near this amount of chances with Torts. It's like the team hates AV and decided to create chances and not finish. They were finishing for Torts at a better rate, especially in 11-12. That team was not very talented but somehow scored timely goals and even goals in bunches sometimes. I seriously like the offensive upside of our 4th line this year than the 3rd line that year. What was it Fedotenko-Boyle-Prust? That was our 3rd line. I can understand that team being a shutdown D, they can grind you down. That team MASSIVELY overachieved to be #12 in scoring. One thing that team had that this team doesn't is superstar play. This team has no Gabby. Even still it seemed like when that team didn't have Gabby or Richards score they had scrubs magically score. Richards, our #1 ****ing center that year was MIA for like 2 months and we still scored. Luckiest team of all time. If this team had this Lundqvist and that fluky finishing ability, they'd be excellent. Say they started 2-6 (injuries and system would probably have them start like that anyway), I bet they'd be something like 16-8.

Right. Bishop didn't play well. Sure.

Some of you act like the Rangers losing a road game after winning a bunch of them in a row is an indictment of the team. Some of you would feel likewise if they won 20 in a row and had the audacity to lose a game.

Bishop didn't do ****? Really? The one goalie that didn't do **** recently was Scrivens, but we had a number of great chances. That said, we say this every game, it's a trend.
