You guys overrate 1st's tbh.

Like, it's a numbers game and I get that giving them away repeatedly is not sustainable but my immediate thought is "oh no, we won't have another Nils Lundkvist, the humanity."

This was a rare opportunity to get a player for peanuts.

It's like when we signed Panarin and people said "it doesn't fit the rebuild." No. When a player of that caliber makes it to UFA, you drop everything.

Unless you are tanking and/or rebuilding 1st rounds really don’t matter as much.

Didn't cost a prospect and if it's a first next year that's fine. There are ways to recoup that asset if necessary, which it probably won't be.

Well at least it is 24 or 25. That's not too bad. And it means that Drury knows you cant be not picking in the first round multiple years in a row. Need to keep the system fresh with talent from the top of the draft, since that is where the best players usually are. A team like the Rangers will always need those ELCs.

Gotcha, well we gotta shoot our shot at this point being a top 10 team with some aging players with term. Teams look completely different in the playoffs and we can be one of them
