Glad we got Kreiders 1 in 15 game out of the way that he shows up for.

Also cant wait for drury to he an idiot and be a buyer at the deadline now since he thinks we are good again only to end up in 9th.

They might buy and sell like a normal team in their position would but I highly doubt they go for other teams rentals unless they have the intention of signing them. Even then I think they'd just wait for July 1.

Agree. Draft is a total toss-up. Play to win. The only caveat is, I’d like to see them give Jones, Mancini, and Bedard and other youngsters more ice time.
Jones - had his chance until Vaak showed up and took over. He’s on the outside unless there’s an injury or someone ahead of him is moved.
Mancini is not ready - let him work on his game in the AHL.
Berard (Bedard would be nice lol) had a nice run and he might get another chance but there’s no rush.

View from behind Igor showed his shot was dead on the net while in the air. It landed on the ice and skipped left
Needed baby draw instead of baby fade. This was the best opportunity out of all he’s had so far in his career.

I see we're eying that juicy 15th overall pick. Great.
Yeah I feel like they are getting some lucky goals and some points in the standings and its only going to hurt the future after they get blown away in the first round, if they barely sneak in, but what else is new?

Its so easy to see it coming

Suddenly this defense is better.

Borgen and vodkatimien have played steady smart. Lindgren still sucks and miller is dumbmiller. Fox turns pucks over and falls down a lot. Schnides just plays his steady game. Forwards actually helped out and back checked a wee bit. 3rd period effort is nice.

Good to see arty get greasy.

What happened to remper ? He got stapled.

Good win.

Rempe tripped over his own feet at center ice on a developing 3 on 2 and never saw the ice again. But when Mika does it, he gets more ice time :sarcasm:

The Utah goalie was bad. The Rangers had no business winning that game.

The Rangers PP is stale. They have scored a few more goals recently but it's a struggle.
The structure is terrible. They're trying to play the same way despite swapping out a RHS for a LHS, and there's just no flow to it. Having Laf and Panarin on their forehands takes away shooting options, and they're just stuck passing it around the perimeter. I know Lafreniere played the left wall on the PP with Canada and in the Q, but it's not a good fit for him here. Put him below the goal like Washington did with Backstrom. Trocheck can play the Oshie role in the bumper. Panarin can play the left circle and be the one-time option.

But then where do Mika and Kreider play???

Mika Zibanejad has 0 game winning goals over the past 59 games.

Jonny Brodzinski has a higher 5on 5 IPP than Mika Zibanejad over the past 3 seasons, despite playing 1,756 less minutes.

Pleased to see the team give effort on this road trip. Still see a major red flag waiving at center on the team with Mika and Vince (declining/age) and Chytil (injury risk) so I wonder if we have any hopes to address that. Easier said then done.

2 new dmen seemed to gain some traction in the last few weeks.

If you look at what the Caps did two seasons ago at the deadline making some savvy moves and building up their draft capital - its possible to turn it around while keeping some aging vets.

But the key is having the foresight and admitting you suck and won't win shit this year with the roster you have. Take a step or two back now to take steps forward later.

These wins are giving fans and management false hopes. I mean look at the goals. Riley off a stick from basically the blue line. Kreider off the faceoff bouncing through 3 sticks. The effort has been better which is good to see, yes.

I dont think Drury and co. are that dumb to not recognize it for what it is, but the problem is when you have the possibility of filling the arena for a first round gate at the Garden, that supersedes any sound thinking.

You're exactly right - Caps is just one good example of how to work through roster changes without complete tank. Whether the team makes the playoff this year or not is irrelevant, BUT it must be the goal inside the locker room regardless of what moves Drury is working on and what players will be moved out. Going back to Caps - we laughed at them for getting into the playoffs just to be swept but I bet them fighting to get into the dance for a long period of that regular season is factoring in their current position at the top of the East.

Why not both ;)
its actually neither. Wild card and 1st round elimination or just barely missing the playoffs.

Rempe is a terrible player.

Why are people surprised he isn’t seeing more ice? It was a close game. He isn’t going to play in those.
he may or may not be , but thats not the reason he doesn't see ice time in a close game.

People supporting tanking are delusional and naive. Purposely losing will lead to future losing whether we get a top 10 pick or not. This isnt the NFL draft where you are getting an immediate impact guy in the first round. Even James Hagens wouldnt be in the NHL for at least 2-3 seasons. Idk what happened in the last decade but fans thinking that the only 2 paths are rebuild or all-in, dont know ball. And what even is "the dreaded middle"? The 8th seed? Plenty of teams have won cups and gone on deep runs as the 8th seed. It's tiresome. The Rangers issue is their culture. You dont get an uptick in effort and buy-in by rooting for losses.

Borgen is a really solid and steady player. He's the type of no fuss, rock solid, reliable defender we haven't really had. He really feels like he can anchor a shut down pair, basically what Trouba was supposed to be (defensively anyway, Trouba is the superior player offensively).

I'd think really hard before moving Borgen. If he'd sign for something around 4x4 I think I'd do that, unless somebody is offering a first for him. I think you keep him and staple him to K'Andre. If someone is offering a first or Borgen wants too much dough then trade him, but if everything is fair I think I'd prefer to keep him.

It’s crazy, I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a Rangers team as much as this current iteration.

Like if you were to tell me that tomorrow the Rangers would trade their entire roster I don’t think I’d miss a single player.

The most frustrating part is that this band of idiots are either going to play themselves just outside of a wildcard spot or just barely into the playoffs to get slaughtered in the first round.

They are going to be in hockey purgatory again where we aren’t good enough to win a cup but aren’t bad enough to get a high draft pick and at least have a chance to get some good prospects. All of which leads me to dislike them ever more haha.

4x3.75 would be as high as I'd go, with the understanding that this was the price of a #5 veteran defenseman who plays on the top 4 for PK purposes.

When you're building a champion roster you want to gt guys playing slightly below their average station. If Borgen is a 2nd pairing guy on a middling roster, in an ideal world he should be the first man up here, like Klein.

It Took me longer to identify Carrick in the poll than I'm proud of

not everyone. i said it again and again "this team isn't as bad as they're playing right now"
Which is more evidence that they simply rolled over like dogs solely because their feelings were hurt. Anyone fooled by this recent uptick in play is willfully ignoring the fact that this is an entitled, mentally soft core that wilts at the first sign of adversity. I'm not buying it.

A month ago everyone here was killing the team for "quitting." Now, they're playing better and everyone is killing the team for not sucking enough. Just a bottom of the barrel, god awful, miserable fan base.

Not "everyone". they absolutely deserve to be skewered for quitting on the fans, but I've rooting for wins and the playoffs the whole time. We're probably going to make it but they need to go on a run against these eastern conference wannabees coming up. They have left themselves zero margin for error. That's on them.

Mentally soft core that went to the ECFs two out of the last three years. There's so much conjecture and people talking out of their asses it's insane. The way some posters speak with such absolute certainty, you'd think they'd have a stall in the locker room in between Mika & Kreider. The truth is, no one knows what was going on with the team. I'm sure guys were pissed, I'm sure some guys were legitimately hurt, but the way this fanbase turned on this team with the personal insults and pouting is f***ing toxic and embarrassing
