One of our tenants had his car “stolen” today. He called the popo, no record of a tow. So he freaks out.

Neighbor came forward and let us know he saw it being towed. At 330 in the morning.

The only thing i could think of was that he was behind on payments and it got grabbed. But 330am seems suspiciously early, and for the police to not have any record of it is really odd. I feel like if he was that far behind on payments he would’ve known about the tow risk. Also, this city isn’t quick to tow. At all. They just hand out tickets like crazy.

I guess he should probably make a call to his bank, assuming they still own the car. I actually have no idea if the car is paid off or not.

A loose rocker arm (I still have no idea how this happened) on the #3 cylinder of my 74' Corvette has caused significant damage in the form of both a damaged valve and cam lobe. I dont think the bottom end of the engine has been opened up since it had a full rebuild in 82', but when I tested the compression last spring it was good on all cylinders. I only needed the slightest excuse to build up the engine a little bit, so here I sit with a new cam, heads, Summit MAX-efi 500, and aluminum radiator. I have everything needed for the job besides pushrods. It already has ceramic coated long tube headers and since I'm halfway decent at welding/fabricating and have access to a mandrel bender I plan on fabricating a 2.5" exhaust with an x-pipe and borla XR1's. I love the deep sound of borlas, there is nothing worse than a raspy muffler on a pushrod v8 IMO. I have sufficient enough experience tuning EFI, so getting the Summit EFI dialed in perfectly shouldn't be difficult. I considered a holley sniper 2, but im going to give the bargain option a try and see how it works out. The rest of the car is in great shape and I plan on keeping it as a reliable cruiser.

I want to build a dedicated drag car eventually, but the Vette is in such good shape it just isn't the one to do it with. I've been considering a gen 4 camaro for that project for years. They're ugly, but great platforms to work with if you aren't trying to break the bank. Someday...

Does anyone here ever go to the drag strip whether its racing or spectating?

I haven't been in 25 years, I did go with my dad a few times in my teens when he would run the 84 s10 he shoved a 350 into, was his daily driver for 15ish years. We did go to the NHRA event that they used to have at National Trails (they have since stopped coming) one time and seeing the big boys was pretty sick, being down on the fence that was I dunno, 100 feet from the track and having funny cars scream past you at 300 mph, I'll never forget it.

Seeing a Top Fuel or Funny Car make a pass is an experience. Its hard to believe how crazy they are until you see it with your own eyes, talk about a full sensory experience. The sight of a manned vehicle moving like a legitimate rocket, the deafening decibels, feeling the rumble throughout your entire body, the nitromethane burning your eyes/nose/throat. I was born with the need for speed and I like adrenaline, but I don't think I could handle going that fast for pass after pass. I mean MAYBE if I lived an entire life of drag racing, but I think it still takes a special kind of crazy to run those cars. You get used to experiencing certain G forces and speeds and just want more and more over time. Running your first 10 is fun, but you cant wait to experience a 9, then after being in the 9s for so long you just want to run 8s, and eventually you get used to 7s and so on. The jump from 10s to 9s and 8s to 7s is nowhere near the same, each second quicker is exponentially more terrifying until you reach a point where there are only crazy people racing other crazy people.
