A loose rocker arm (I still have no idea how this happened) on the #3 cylinder of my 74' Corvette has caused significant damage in the form of both a damaged valve and cam lobe. I dont think the bottom end of the engine has been opened up since it had a full rebuild in 82', but when I tested the compression last spring it was good on all cylinders. I only needed the slightest excuse to build up the engine a little bit, so here I sit with a new cam, heads, Summit MAX-efi 500, and aluminum radiator. I have everything needed for the job besides pushrods. It already has ceramic coated long tube headers and since I'm halfway decent at welding/fabricating and have access to a mandrel bender I plan on fabricating a 2.5" exhaust with an x-pipe and borla XR1's. I love the deep sound of borlas, there is nothing worse than a raspy muffler on a pushrod v8 IMO. I have sufficient enough experience tuning EFI, so getting the Summit EFI dialed in perfectly shouldn't be difficult. I considered a holley sniper 2, but im going to give the bargain option a try and see how it works out. The rest of the car is in great shape and I plan on keeping it as a reliable cruiser.
I want to build a dedicated drag car eventually, but the Vette is in such good shape it just isn't the one to do it with. I've been considering a gen 4 camaro for that project for years. They're ugly, but great platforms to work with if you aren't trying to break the bank. Someday...
Does anyone here ever go to the drag strip whether its racing or spectating?
