On second thought, the deal here in the OP is a fair deal for Rakell. I started thinking about what it would acquire to acquire Moore separately, and it was similar to what we acquired Rakell for. (A 2nd and a B prospect). A 1st + 2nd + two B prospects of value is a fair deal for Rakell. While I would rather acquire a younger version of what Moore is now and then trade for Moore separately, I think that OP and everyone else in here saying this is a fair deal are right.

I guess it’s not bad. I’m still very interested in adding Fiala if the kings are souring on him.
I don't think he's available. He had a rough 1st half this year but he's REALLY picked it up lately and is looking amazing next to his new linemates (Byfield and Laferriere).

Plus he has a NMC and it seems like he and his wife love it in So-Cal. Feels like things would need to get pretty bad with the Kings for him to waive his NMC. Crazier things have happened though.

Also leaves a big hole in the Kings lineup offensively if he's dealt so the Kings would need solid offensive talent coming back in return.

rakell is barely an upgrade over moore to be adding a 1st.

one season does not make his career. but ok....
He has five 20+ goal seasons. Moore has 1. He has seven 40+ point seasons. Moore has 2.

And Moore has been seriously struggling this year while Rakell has been having a great year.

Saying Rakell is barely an upgrade over Moore is a pretty questionable take (respectfully).

Rakell is a clear cut top 6 forward - Moore is a solid 3rd liner (or middle 6 forward when he's on). Also, Rakell is a right shot who can help the Kings powerplay - just on handedness alone Rakell would be a solid upgrade over Moore.

I do question whether it's worth giving up the 1st or not and I'd love if the Kings could find a way to get the deal done without a first - But with the year Rakell is having, the fact that he comes with a very reasonable $5m cap hit for this season + the next 3 seasons, and the fact that he's one of very few right shot scoring wingers potentially available on the trade market - You might have to bite the bullet and send the 1st to get the deal done.

I was also trying to make this deal as fair/realistic as possible. If the mock trade included something like a 2nd and a 4th instead of a 1st - I'm sure people would be telling me to pound sand lol.

Rakell gets more in todays NHL. Quality RW scorers are in demand. Just nothing LA has I want. If the Kraken say thing a trade like this helps the cause, I like a number 1 plus Wright as starting points.

i think the poor take is trading away a 1st round pick for a 31 y/o.

You might be right but this team needs help badly offensively if they're going to have a chance to get out of the 1st round.

Have to give to get. Adding another 20/30 goal scorer to the Kings roster (especially a right shot who can instantly slot onto their 1st PP unit) could be worth the 1st.
