RFA negotiations, part X. Can't see Rakell having any interest in playing in Siberia. Also don't really see them paying more than even a sucky bridge deal with the Ducks.

It just says that the KHL team that owns his KHL rights wants to sign him, nothing else. That doesn't even really suck for Anaheim, on its own.
Yeah. This strikes me as being equivalent to, say, Eklund speculating that the Jackets might sign Sergei Mozyakin. (Yes, the Jackets owned his NHL draft rights, while they existed.)

There are no discussions because the Ducks need to make a move to clear cap space. Presumably, this will be fixed.

There has been no move because other teams are waiting for the Ducks to cave and give up Fowler for pennies on their dollar.

There has been discussions, but at the moment nothing is happening. Probably because Rakell wants more money than Anaheim wants to offer.

Nothing big here. It even says there is an out clause.

Out clause or not; if he participates in a game in the KHL while the NHL season as begun, he will need to go through waivers to come back to the Ducks.

As for the story itself, no one in their right mind would leave a team in California for a small market KHL team.

Small market team or not, Sibir is one of the best teams in the KHL.

Depends on how negotiations with the Ducks are going. Getting paid in the KHL vs sitting and waiting for the Ducks to give a fair deal...I could see why somebody might want the security of taking the KHL deal.

I can also see that it could very well be a tactic by his agent. Get the deal done or we'll go to the KHL.

even though there is an out-clause (if this rumour has legs), it's still bad because it gives Rackell all the leverage because he's just fine waiting this out and still getting paid elsewhere.

Rickard Rakell has not yet agreed to a new contract - and, according to Expressen, the Russian KHL team Sibir Novosibirsk wants to sign him.

His agents says that nothing is happening in the negotiations with Anaheim.

However, if he signs for the KHL, there will be a clause. If he signs a new contract with Anaheim, he will immediately join Anaheim again.

Bullcrap, not a single KHL team will sign a player on such conditions. It's either a full season or sorry broh.

Leaving SoCal for Siberia? I'll believe it when I see it.

I think Siberia is seen as much worse than some areas actually are. Westerners have an image of Siberia as being some wide open expanse of nothing but ice. Seems to me that this city, while in Siberia, is in moderate climate, and is well connected to the rest of Russia. Yes, to most Southern Cali would seem better, but its not like he's signing in the arctic if he does sign this deal.

Not necessarily. There is a bridge on the table when he is ready to play hockey. (In medical recovery)

Novosibirsk is the 3rd largest Russia's city, with a climate close to Sweden, so while I would definitely prefer Anaheim, but who knows about this certain Swede. I've met people, who prefer snows they used to to warm oceans.
