I get what Chang was/is. A placeholder for the next group of prospects coming up, but hot damn, if you are going to bring in a guy who has been on base 1 time all year (HBP) why not just promote someone from within like Hoy Park? I mean at least Park isn't going 20 PA without getting on base. He'd give you the same thing Chang does (play mult positions) and almost surely be better offensively when he is in there.

And don't give me the match up nonsense. Skubal is a lefty, yes, but Marcano is 3-8 with a homer off them so far since the call up.

It must be Chang's last shot to show something. He's only ever played 2B a dozen times. It really doesn't make sense to have him out there at the expense of Marcano

As long as they keep performing it is time for the youngsters.

Chang basically has a week here. Hitting a lefty would be a good start.

Got dang we need more righty bats. Basically no one to lefty-bash anymore.

I also don't know why - in my head - I had thought Suwinski was a righty hitter before seeing him at the major league level. He was never in the forefront of my consciousness and "Jack Suwinski" sounds like such a handsome sturdy husband who builds handsome sturdy walls kinda name. Right-handed. Standard.

Yeah, I don't really get the hail mary with Chang either. Even if he somehow picked it up, I don't see him lasting past the next roster move where we need a 26-man spot. He seems ticketed to be a guy that's DFA'd and then kept in AAA for more depth. Not a bad thing, but not really much of a reason to try and give him some run when he's done nothing to force it and everybody else is performing.

The thinking is probably that he's a righty with power and might get lucky to run into one vs. the LHP.

Jack suwinski sounds like a 56 year old plumber from Carrick thats missing a finger from a long ago 4th of July accident when he was 16

FYI, Henry Davis got in his first rehab game tonight in the FCL. And of course, got hit by another pitch, but Kody Duncan says he's fine. I've never seen a guy get hit as much as he is this year. It's semi alarming. Just glad he's back on the field. Hopefully he stays on it the rest of the year.

Does he crowd the plate or something?

Also I have no idea why I thought this was a road series. Looks like they’ll start in about 25 minutes

Not at all. He starts with an open stance and then closes as the pitch is delivered. I mean he is stepping in towards the plate but the final position during swing/taking pitch isn't anything outrageous in terms of being on top of the plate.

I think the bullpen will have to be perfect to give us a chance, but Skubal has always had HR issues, so maybe we'll get another crack. Regardless, nice to see the individual progress with Mitchell.

Quintana wasn't going to be perfect all year.
