Yeah clearly command is the big issue with Jimenez, and the command's an issue because the delivery is an issue. The stuff looks good though Doc, wouldn't you agree?

I think you have me confused with someone else, Tim hasn't responded to anything I've written lately. Edit: Oh - ok, he was talking with someone about how nice it would be to bring in a Quintana, and someone better than a Quintana next year? That one?

I don't think I would disagree with that. Where have I disagreed with bringing guys like Quintana in? I just think we're going to have more guys come out of nowhere with this pitching staff the next few years. I see more raw ability out there than the rest of you do. I could be wrong. But I got no problem bringing guys in right now.
Yes, the stuff looks good. I don't know how much command develops especially since all these guys are on pitch counts in training and such.

You have said that you don't think we need external pitching. Even Tim disagrees with that. I'm not asking for the moon. Like 3-4 guys on top of what they have very cheaply internally.

Bednar has been so valuable but man that was atrocious. The walks and then the total defensive blunder. Terrible. Oh well.

The sequence of defensive failure by Bednar to not let it go, fail to glove it and then not even attempt to pick it up and make the out...

He's gotta wear this one unfortunately.

Not sure why you call for a fastball there, especially since he was crap with it. Two strikes make him chase.

Well, Bednar thinks he can just blow it by everyone.

That only works for the first month or two.

The Altoona pbp guy on Gorski.... "he doesn't get cheated on his homers. He has hit a couple that were over 430 feet."

Also...."he's a tremendous athlete."

Waiting for the other shoe to drop today and find out Hayes is on the IL, which would be about as big a gut shot as possible right now.

Crisis averted -- I was truly bracing for him to be out of the lineup again and on the IL tomorrow.

Not only is the crisis averted, but he's back! We'll see if we have any prayer vs. McClanahan. Roansy will have to be perfect, just hoping for a good game from him.

I think sitting Cruz is the right decision today. He's had a strong first week, looks relaxed overall, 0 errors. Some ABs where a veteran or LOOGY ate him up, but that's gonna happen. If guys are getting regular rest, hard not to sit him vs. probably a top-3 pitcher in the league. I might feel different if we had an off day tomorrow (within reason I think we should just keep challenging him -- baseball is about failure).

Just awful -- this is a throwback performance from Contreras. Sometimes it seems like he just can't get any handle on any of his pitches. He's missing by feet and not inches.

I'm almost rooting for 4 and dive from Contreras. Maybe he reigns it in and has a smooth inning or two, but I'm even thinking about arm management more than winning. He just looks like he doesn't have it at all today.

Yeah, he just doesn't have command today. He's had good luck when he's just let middle middle fastballs rip and the balls are hit right at fielders. I'd just hope he can navigate the 4th against the 7-8-9 hitters and call it a day.
