Well, that didn't go like I'm sure they drew it up. Cubs have looked terrible, hopefully Eickhoff can at least fall on his sword and eat 5 innings tonight.

I think it was partially a timing thing. Wilson pitched last night (and was awful anyways), and Bolton / Burrows aren't in line for today. I actually think we'll try to get one more start out of Eickhoff vs. Washington before DFAing him, but he might be such a train wreck that it's impossible. He just doesn't have a fastball that can do much of anything.

Don't think it's an enormous deal but would be nice if he can at least eat 6 innings. I'm sure we will see a position player pitch an inning tonight.

Over the course of the season, you'll have a couple stinkers where non-MLer pitchers give it the old try.

Should have started De Jong. Regardless, I doubt Eickhoff gets another go.

Cruz may be one of those guys that struggles with his throws when he's not letting it rip. We might need to go the Dunston route here. Oneil should not be tossing balls across the diamond at 50% but rather he should bring it every time.

Thoughts?

Whatever keeps them on target and I think that is by ripping it from what I've seen. He started taking heat off it and throws were in the dirt and going wide. Just let it rip. I'm sure he's going to make some errors in the throwing department, but that first one he fielded and just let loose on is how I think he should be going about things.

Those are the same kind of throwing errors he was making in the Minors too.

Personally I'm all for it. It should be actually more fun from the fans perspective to see him letting it rip all the time.

Gotta go back to work soon. Enjoy the Day Baseball peeps.

Yeah, we need some distance from the micro-commentary on everything that he does. It's funny, Brown is like the guiltiest at that kind of thing -- he was doing it for a while with every single pitch that Mitch Keller threw.
