OT - NO POLITICS Rainy Weekends Always Get Me Down edition

Picked up Hattie from her bath. We walked around the farmers market and three kids came up all at once and asked if they could pet Hattie and hold her. It was cute, I would have taken a picture but didn't want people to think I was a creep lol. Hattie loved the cuddles though.

The groomer put a bow in Hattie's hair and she surprisingly put up with it until we got home. I'd prefer they give her a bandana. At $70 plus tip for an 8 lb dog, that should be the minimum lol.

Eh. It happens i guess. I’m shocked at how much ground water is rushing through. It’s being dealt with now at least. Looked like class V rapids for a while lol
I work with a couple whose house floods just about any time there's a strong storm. Nobody wants to buy the place, understandably.

I'm glad this house sits up on a bit of a hill.

During the Covid panic house buying, there was a house that went up for sale in our village. It sold for a ridiculous price, they must have lost a couple hundred thousand on it since. It actually said in the description that the basement was like a river in the spring and during heavy rain, we called it the swamp house. It has ventilation pipes coming out of the basement. I can't imagine the moisture in that house.

Lawn care is provided in my lease agreement at the house. The company the landlord had been using was, let's just say, slightly less than reliable. So yesterday he hired the two teenagers who cut the neighbor's yard, based on the neighbor's recommendation. They came out with the most souped up John Deere zero radius lawn tractor I've ever seen lol. Well.... this is Tennessee after all

They did a good job. At first I thought they were going to leave the clippings in the driveway, but they mowed our yard first and then the neighbor's, and then came back to clean all that up.

I'm not the one paying for it (well, probably I am to some extent lol) but I'm glad to see two kids who are willing to work hard get the business instead of some landscaping company.

Hot tip for an easy summer dessert.

Bought a Sarah Lee pound cake from the freezer section, and ice cream of choice. Left the ice cream on the counter while I put everything away to soften.

Cut the pound cake in half with a serrated knife, and spread ice cream on the pound cake. I sprinkled some mini m&m’s I had in the cabinet from a baking project on top, then top with the other half of the cake. Wrap in plastic and freeze. Serve with some fresh whipped cream.

Possibilities are endless - I went with the OG ice cream flavor for this one, Brighams chocolate. Ice cream flavors and mix-ins can be whatever!

Now I'm craving M&Ms. Thanks bunches. :skeptic:

Also please send a slice.

F*ck me.

I just met Bill Burr.

He was looking for some hockey cards for his kid. I was telling him how I used to collect them when I was a kid. I had the 1970 Bobby Orr.

Then I realized, this is Bill Burr.

I did not ask for an autograph or a selfie or any of that foolishness. They don't want to be bothered with that. I just shook his hand and told him how much I loved his work.

Another brush with greatness.

He is on Broadway right now with Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk and the great Michael McKean in a revival of David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross,

Like all of them, including hockey players, he is smaller in person. 😛

Nice summer shower coming through. Sitting in the recliner with the window open, listening to the steady rain, occasional thunder.... ahhhhhh.

The air after the rain always smells so good too.

One of the greatest TV cameramen died this week.

Dave Dorsett worked at CBS for 46 years.

Oh, he also shot this replay in 1970

He finally retired in 2011

David Letterman posted this tribute

I once asked him what his favorite memory was, and he replied that it was on a GAME SHOW that CBS was airing live.

Wonderful man
