It's cold, chilly and wet out, today. So, I'm going to be a responsible adult and take the time to do my mandatory triennial electrical code update so I can renew my electrical license. My union provides the update free of charge - would cost hundreds of dollars out of MY pocket otherwise - and a free codebook which would be another 100+ dollars out of my pocket.
So, as I'm sitting here at my desk in my #4 Bobby Orr Bruins sweater, something occurred to me. Could the Toronto Maple Leafs' Stanley Cup futility be the result of them NOT reeling in Orr when they had the chance? The Red Sox had the so-called Curse of the Bambino. We all know the story of how the Sox sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees, and what came after. Ruth, in my opinion, was the greatest baseball player who ever lived. Could the same thing have happened to the Leafs by not signing Orr to a C-Form waaaay back when? Yes, the Leafs did win the Cup in Orr's rookie year, but maybe knee injuries sustained at the hands of Toronto Maple Leaf players Pat Quinn and Marcel Provost might have had more to do with the Curse of Bobby Orr than the Leafs not signing him? Maybe. Maybe not. I wonder...
I know the Leafs' suckage very likely has much more to do with dreadful ownership and management than any curse, but wearing #4 and having an active imagination made me feel like sharing this little nugget.
