I agree - he's been bad on the PK. That's why I'd rather play Bailey - he's no worse on the PK than Clutter, and he could supplement the PP. Put Palms on the 1st unit for Lee, put Bailey on the 2nd unit.

Palms
Barzal-Horvat-Nelson
Dobson

Lee
Parise-Pageau-Bailey
Aho
Bailey on the 2nd unit likely keeps the play along the perimeter instead of driving towards the net, which is a long term problem for the PP. I’m with you about Bailey on the PK however, as well as Palmieri on PP1

4-0 Win.

Get outshot 45-23. Sorokin steals it.

go 2-5 on PP.

Barzal and Horvat both with multi-point games.

That's true, and I don't think Engvall is better in that respect, although he'd be better on entries.

Maybe run an old-fashioned umbrella with 2 D.

Parise - Lee - Engvall
Pulock - Aho

I HATED those power plays. I was miserable every time they went on the power play because I knew how it would end. It always gave some tiny glimmer of hope, which made it even worse.

It's not a passive box. It's an upside down Y. It's an i-formation up top, with 2 D playing a zone down low. (Basically the dot of the i covers the puck-carrier, while the line of the i covers passing lanes, and then becomes the dot if the puck changes sides of the ice) I don't know what it's called in hockey, but we teach a similar strategy for lacrosse. The purpose is to let the other team to shoot or make difficult passes from the alleys.

Clutterbuck has, in different circumstances, been too aggressive up-top covering the puck carrier, leaving his fellow forward with too large an area to cover. And at other times, he's been too slow on switches with Cizikas, and not covered the lanes he was responsible for.

It only looks like a box if the forwards are out of position, or aren't switching back to the middle quickly enough to cover the most-dangerous passing lanes.
Forgive my terminology then...They look mighty passive. Call it a Y or anything you want. Canes have had a weak PP all year, yet the numbers say the way we've defended against it hasn't worked. Several back door, wide open one time looks that have led to goals.

I hope this helps … ALL HANDS ON DECK. LGI

we got this 4-2 tonight

Officiating needs to be consistent, and its not. Its all over the map according to the game and players and the particular refs who are calling it. Its a variable. But you ever notice its mostly the teams who are losing/lost/will lose who are the loudest? see a trend?

I see people complaining about EVERY CALL. EVERY f***ING ONE. It's boring and predictable and many times wrong. Do officials miss calls? oh yea. Do they get stuff wrong? Yup. Super difficult game to officiate.

But when the Isles lose this series, is it the fault of the refs? NO. We aren't EVEN CLOSE to the caliber of the Canes. How can you not see this yet?
Two things can be true here. This team/roster is flawed and has played poorly at times in this series. At the same time, playoff hockey games are often so close that one call CAN determine the outcome. The non-call in game 2 was absurd and led directly to the GWG by Carolina. In addition, the Parise penalty was horrifically bad and the Barzal call baffling and, coming when they did, took all the momentum away from the Islanders when the series seemed about to tilt their way. It was pretty clear to me that those calls were designed to send a message and take away the Isles physicality.

The Martin penalty was incredibly stupid and game changing as well. If this series was 2-2 at this point, with the Canes depleted lineup, I would be feeling pretty confident right now. However, I don't expect a win tonight because I think this team is deflated and just not very good.

It's insane to me that Lambert hasn't tweaked a single line aside from Romanov for Bolduc.

Absolutely baffling.

Is it confirmed that we are going with the same lineup tonight?

Down 3-1 you typically try to change something up. Strange.

Would love to say isles W upcoming but I just don’t have confidence that this team can show up when it matters.
