This game really shows how critical it is for the Islanders to get a lead and play with a lead. It allows them to force the opponent into reckless mistakes and create opportunities off counter attacks. They’re not skilled enough to create many opportunities through cycling and otherwise.

This game really shows how critical it is for the Islanders to get a lead and play with a lead. It allows them to force the opponent into reckless mistakes and create opportunities off counter attacks. They’re not skilled enough to create many opportunities through cycling and otherwise.

An emerging theme here is that we've been the better team 5 on 5 overall, but every game there's a solid ~10 minute stretch where the Canes dominate us 5 on 5. Moreso than we can dominate them at any point. The key is when that turns into a flurry of goals, we're done. When it doesn't, the Canes seem to get completely neutered.
