It was Wheeler in his prospect rankings that said it. On Emery's frame, he said:
"It’s my understanding that he has worked very hard at it, eating a ton and training a ton, but his metabolism just burns right through it."
I would assume between playing for a high-end college program like NoDak and being a high pick of an NHL team, he's working with someone on a nutrition plan. He also said this which I don't remember but is relevant:
"despite how slight he looks, he’s quite strong, which is exciting for what could still be ahead"
I know it seems like hand waving with Emery but I'm just not worried about him. I've personally observed him to be a pretty strong player despite his frame and I trust what Wheeler wrote about him being one of those guys that just can't bulk.
I'm also not worried about the offense. Someone in this thread, maybe GAG, called it a statistical anomaly. It really is. He's a good player playing 20 minutes per night at a good program. Even if he never skated into the offensive end, he should luck his way into a handful of assists. And his 36 SOG is hardly a large number but at that point you'd also expect one or two to make it in, even if it's one of those that hits one dude in the face then bounces off another guy's ass before going in.
I'm not going to argue he has had a great season but I think it has been a fine season and all the things I liked about him at the draft are still on full display.
