R.I.P John Amirante. I hope MSG raises a banner in memory of John Amirante. If Billy Joel can have 2 banners and Phish a banner, I think John Amirante definitely deserves one!

Yes please, was going to say this as well. Please raise something in commemoration of him

I’m not expecting it but there should be a banner up there for him. John is as big a part of Rangers history as any. Many things changed over 30+ years but John was the constant.

I used to do IT work for a bunch of shoprites here on li. One of the stores that I serviced was the one in plainview that him and his wife always shopped at. He would always stop and talk to me no matter where I was, even when he found out that I'm a devils fan. He was a class act and will be missed.

RIP to a truly great guy. Hopefully the first game they play a recording of his anthem. And during the bomb's bursting part, a bomb explodes in James Dolan's office.

Sad day in Rangers history. He will be missed. The anthem before Game 7 SCF will be forever be etched into our memories. Just unreal.
Watching it right now again truly unreal. You couldn't hear a word of the anthem over the crowd. So emotional. Never saw/heard anything like it. He will be missed. RIP John

Man I have watched that anthem for game 7 several hundred times and it still brings tears to my eyes every single time. Rip JA, thank you for the memories.

I was 12 years old in 94, and I have still yet to see anything quite like that. The building was so loud, it drowned out Amirante.

Very sad, but I'm glad we're all celebrating his life and his impact on us as Rangers fans. What a singer!

I'm one of those people who thinks anthems before every game is antiquated and overkill, but boy oh boy, when John would come out before a game, there was nothing else in the world that would get me more excited for what was to come.

By all accounts, he was a warm and humble man, and obviously a massive Ranger fan. I agree with whomever it was who said he should have a banner at the Garden.

I always felt like the Rangers were going to win on nights when John sang, despite all evidence to the contrary. I had the pleasure to meet him once. He was a good man and will be sorely missed. I'm sure there will be a tribute of some sort next season.
