Value of: Quinton Byfield

As a starting point:

To Montreal: C Quinton Byfield

To LA: Montreal's 1st 2025, Calgary's 1st 2025, C Michael Hage, LW/RW Joshua Roy, C Christian Dvorak (cap purposes)

...thoughts??...
Deal

...if at all possible, I wouldn't want to offer Slafsquatch; the Habs would just have to go out and try to find another player of his ilk (possible ilk, I suppose, as he's not even close to done growing his game)...Dach could replace Hage and one of the 1sts in the deal:

To Montreal: C Quinton Byfield

To LA: C/RW Kirby Dach, one of Montreal's 1sts, LW/RW Joshua Roy, C Christian Dvorak (cap)

...better??... :dunno:
I’d take this one too

You make posts about trading him every day and nothing else. It is not likely hes traded at this point in time. Are you really a Kings fan?
They have two identities but clearly wanna contend as a treadmill team

So let’s trade the young guys and get some new pieces for a push now and future draft picks to stock the cupboard after this inevitably blows up

No point in keeping byfield Clarke Spence fagemo laferriere if they kings only want to play defensive hockey with aging vets

Worst developmental organization in the nhl!

Or do you disagree with that statement too, bluc?

Byfield is a center and offers slight cap relief. Again, just an outsider here

EDIT: Is Byfield not playing center anymore? Haven't really been watching kings games..
I don't know for certain. daily faceoff says he's centering the second line between Fiala and Laferriere. Their twitter feed shows starting five + goalie before a game, but not the whole lineup.

He's playing center this year. He's periodically gets shifts with Kopitar and Kempe when they need to push for a goal or because he's getting an extra shift given Hiller has gone 11/7 for over half the season.

Id keep them all at this point and ride out one more year after this with Kopitar and the Blake regime until they are gone then the keys get handed over to the next generation. There is no point in trading him for futures or aging vets. They should move any ufa and anyone not nailed down with clauses this year. Gavrikov, Jeannot, Danault, Moore, Lewis, Englund, Burroughs for any return possible.
Kings and Rangers are probably the worst developmental organizations.
Are you calling me Bluc? I cant wait until they are gone its been the most unenjoyable era in Kings history or at least in my lifetime.

There's likely no way the Kings would move Byfield under the current administration or until, at the very least, Kopitar retires or steps down and he's been given a few years to cook on his own. Last season was amazing, this year has been okay but a slight step back. He is still a good player with upside on a decent deal. The Kings would be foolish to part with he or Clarke at this point.

They may or may not end up as franchise pillars, but they are both good players to build around. Byfield was one of the youngest in his draft class and was a long term project from the start - he's only 22 and has a ways to go - while he hasn't blown the roof off anything, his ceiling is still uncertain.

That's more than three first, knowing that Guhle is most likely gone for the rest of the season, do you think it's wise to do that trade ? :help:

...OK, I might have overshot a bit; I'm extremely high on Byfield...the revised 2nd trade I proposed, I'd do in a heartbeat and I still have faith in Kirby Dach...again, I think Byfield is going to be another Kopitar-like player...

In his current form, he can be a pain in the ass to play against.

I can't see LA trading him unless they're offered an overpayment.

He's got size and athleticism that every team craves and with each season he's becoming a more well rounded player.

Maybe he isn't meant to play on a scoring line, but he's the type of player you want out on the ice in a ton of situations. Especially in the playoffs.

The problem with trading this guy now is, first we already lost several years of Stutzle-level production and a kajillion assets for filling the hole with guys like PLD and Fiala and we can't get that back; and second, he's always been known as needing years before that elite offensive package comes out. In the meantime, he isn't exactly on his way to being a Selke candidate.

So either we keep him on his inflated contract and keep hoping or we send him elsewhere and possibly watch him turn into an all-star that we paid so much for and got 5 cents on the dollar after sacrificing 80% of the franchise's future.
