Quinton Byfield disgusting goal

Oh....wait...now you want it the SAME.....ok, first you said show you a goal where a player has two sticks in his hands....now....it's show me this SAME EXACT EVENT.....

Got it.
Dude, Byfield literally gripped the middle of Wright's stick for a solid 4 seconds, and nearly wripped it out of his hands at the end. That's an eternity in hockey lol.

I don't think I've ever seen a player hold an opponent's stick with his bare glove for that long without a penalty. Especially not in front of the net.

Maybe 3 seconds, in real time, watch from the face off, they tie up, Wright brings up, Byfield pulls it away while gaining position, Wright does nothing, doesn't engage, doesn't try and make a play, you say you've never seen that happen without a penalty,

Show me a penalty like that where the guys stick is being held, isn't trying to engage or make a play, if that happens, more than likely that gets called, but Wright literally stands there like a wet fish,

Tell me, should cross checks be called in front of the net? All cross checks, or in the corners? It's essentially the same thing,

Better yet, what did Wright lose the ability to do?

California reffing. Always been a thing lolol
LA's net powerplay percentage is 28th in the league. Get new material.

Wright's stick was in Byfield's midsection. He pulled the stick away and let go by the time he scored the goal (as Wright is literally holding the stick afterwards). Wright was playing soft.

Was it a missed call? There's a fair argument. But I can also see why they'd let it go.

The time between the actual faceoff and the goal was 4 seconds. So did Byfield just grab onto the stick at puck drop, pull Wright over to the front of the net, and plan to dual wield two sticks?

It's like 3.5-3.9 seconds if you go frame by frame. That's an eternity

That doesn't matter, you can't just grab a guys stick for 3-4 seconds and start pulling it out of his hands. You don't get a free pass to high stick a guy just because he's not actively trying to avoid your flailing stick.

Yes.

Boxing a guy out using your stick isn't the same thing as cross checking.

He grabbed his stick within ~0.5 seconds of puck drop and they drifted to the front of the net together. He doesn't let go until after he scores.

I think its awesome honestly. Wright should be ashamed of himself for getting bullied so bad. Yeah, its a penalty, but you can't just let yourself get manhandled like that in front of your own net.

Got it, so you want game that is power play vs power play, that explains your point of view,

Wright didn't lose an advantage and Byfield didn't gain an advantage

If you're going to let guys hold onto to an opponent's stick for over 3.5 seconds, they might as well make it legal.

Bring back water skiing through the neutral zone while we're at it. Let's see how slow we can make the sport. Better than having to watch a powerplay!

Agreed, show me where he tried to use his stick.
Probably would have been useful at this point. Unfortunately, it was wripped out of his hands.

What else is he supposed to do? His stick was just taken out of his hands, probably not something he expected, especially without a penalty.

Was just taken out of his hands? You realize he still had one hand on it, I mean he started the entire play with one hand on it, and nothing changed....but got it,

What is he supposed to do, guy grabbed his stick, he should have just sat down and threw a tantrum....right?

Once it was ripped out his hands and pulled behind Byfield, there really wasn't much he could do.

I think at first he didn't realize that Byfield had a hold of a his stick as they glided towards the net. Or if he did, he was probably okay with it, assuming Byfield would have to eventually let go to play the puck if it were to come near them (what's he gonna do, score one handed?). Instead, Byfield goes into god mode, makes a great play with one hand, and never releases Wright's stick.
