Quinton Byfield disgusting goal

Someone seems a bit hurt by this goal

...why, because I pointed out that it should have been called a penalty??...I have Byfield in my Dynasty Pool and I'm a Habs fan...I don't know if you're aware, but this Forum is for discussing Hockey... :thumbu:

Firm up Shane

looks like when you grab your little brother’s arms and tell him to stop hitting himself

probably depends which version of QB shows up for the playoffs

is it the one that absolutely ate Eichel to the tune of friggin 97% xGF the other week

or the one that got chewed up and spit out by both Marco Rossi and Cole Perfetti

I'm not sure there's a bigger wild card in the league right now than Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde here

Watch them off the draw, Wright has his stick in his ribs and Byfield pulled it away from his body.

Same exact play happens on nearly every faceoff when the centers lock up. Byfield just happened to score at the same time.

Yeah I'm a little surprised I've seen so many people committed to this being a penalty, I haven't played super high levels but even the ones I've played pretty much allow you to remove a stick from your hip, sort of like the playing the puck with your gloves rule, as long as you aren't locking on and stopping someone from making a play they always let that go...by the strict interpretation of the rulebook sure it can be called but there's a reason they let that and 100 technical 'slashes' a game go. Hell Wright had no pressure on his stick nor was he trying to make a play with it after the pushoff. I'm not super committed to arguing about this or anything, just a little surprised that it seems a lot of people don't realize how many stick 'holds' are let go, as my understanding of it has always been you have the right to protect your space/person.

Remove it from your hip alright but he held it way up parallel to the ice and continued to hold it until the puck passed goal line. Honestly the coolest goal I’ve visually ever seen but that’s definitely a stain

What was Wright trying to do that QB stopped him from doing?

Honestly I'm not sure Shane even knew he had a stick, he was too busy gawking!

Last night summed up Byfield's career thus far.

A spectacular individual effort goal of the year candidate, followed by flubbling a pass a mite could have handled that would have been another good chance, followed by a lazy effort directly leading to a goal-against. (all in the 1st period)

Magic Mountain should name their next roller coaster The Quinton Byfield Experience.

The Quinton Byfield experience

1. One handed goal exhibiting the body control of a generational wide receiver, holding off opponent with one hand, deflecting down and redirecting airborne puck with another, entering a showman's ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED pose

2. Casual pass that would lead to a partial breakaway causes him to toepick on blueline and yardsale gear

Because you're on every page crying about how it shouldn't count....despite I dunno, HOCKEY.

Again, show me a holding the stick penalty where the player whose stick was being held wasn't engaged and didn't try to make a play....then you mighth ave something.

Show me a goal, where a player has 2 sticks in his hand, and scores with one of them lol.

...I'm discussing the play with others and haven't insulted anyone in the process...so who's crying here??... :biglaugh:

Oh....wait...now you want it the SAME.....ok, first you said show you a goal where a player has two sticks in his hands....now....it's show me this SAME EXACT EVENT.....

Got it.
lol, the other two they touched the stick, they aren’t in possession of the stick.
You got nothing dude, but keep looking.

It’s ok to admit he got away with it,

The GOTY shouldn’t be one that should have been blown dead and resulted in the other team getting a power play.
