Yeah I'm a little surprised I've seen so many people committed to this being a penalty, I haven't played super high levels but even the ones I've played pretty much allow you to remove a stick from your hip, sort of like the playing the puck with your gloves rule, as long as you aren't locking on and stopping someone from making a play they always let that go...by the strict interpretation of the rulebook sure it can be called but there's a reason they let that and 100 technical 'slashes' a game go. Hell Wright had no pressure on his stick nor was he trying to make a play with it after the pushoff. I'm not super committed to arguing about this or anything, just a little surprised that it seems a lot of people don't realize how many stick 'holds' are let go.
