Have to trade him ASAP if he gives Vancouver no serious contract talks starting July 1 next year. Letting it linger into the year and say Vancouver has a very good 26-27 without an extended Quinn will lead to a Johnny Gaudreau (RIP) situation for the Canucks and you can't do that at any cost.

The season was over, FA about to happen, severson wanted the 8th, cbj did a deal with cbj to sign than trade before July 1 allowing 8 yrs

After the season ended, yes, but before free agency.
Sevs was a pending UFA, but in the eyes of the Central Registry, he was still NJD property, so they could sign him to 8 years (and then trade him to CBJ).

If they waited until actual free agency, July 1st, they would have had to sign him to 7 years, max.


You guys aren't actually disagreeing over anything. Just arguing over semantics :laugh:

My God...that interview I just saw...Quinn is outta there as soon as as he can.....get assets Vancouver before he bolts....man is dejected and outta there as soon as he can leave for NJ or elsewhere
 
making millions of dollars and hes complaining :rolleyes: it should not concern him how good teams doing . just do your best and be ecstatic for the money and fame , and chance to compete against best players on earth . imo canuck should have traded him the day he said that . and if im a nuck fan wearing his jersey ide pitch it on rink pdq

I’m not sure. It’s not a guarantee that he’s out the door if we’re not a good team. He’s settled down in one of the best cities on the planet lol.

I have heard from a very reliable source that the Canucks are sending Hughes, Pettersson and Joshua to Toronto in exchange for Marner, Rielly and Domi.

Look at this way:

Quinn's contracts so far equal about 50M and he's about to sign for another 75-90 Million
Jack's contracts so far equal about 70M and he's going to sign another one in a few short years probably like 100M
Luke is about to sign probably 8x8 or something like that = 64M and will have another big contract after that,,,

SO between them - we're looking collectively at 400-450M+ between the brothers, not to mention, sponsorships, etc.....and you think Quinn's going to care about 1 year of 5-6M after taxes?

A team will not give up mega mega assets for Quinn if they aren't sure they can sign him. It just doesn't happen. He can't negotiate now, this isn't like Tkachuk - and the assumption - and given a lot of information out there in Hughes land - the boys have a unique ability to play together in their primes.

I can see a team wanting Quinn for 2 playoff runs understanding he'll likely go - but to say a team is going to throw one of the biggest returns ever? yeah IDK.

You are either lying or grossly misinformed.

Are you still harping on about the poster who said the only Leafs of interest were the centres? That poster even explained it was because the team needs a centre back.

We send warrior Gallagher (he tries hard), faceoff specialist Dvorak (pretty useless but you can start him in 3v3 on faceoffs to win more draws), and Jake Evans (he's another center)

For Hughes & Petterson. Nucks can keep Joshua
