A lot of Vancouver fans are living with the fantasy that the Devils would be willing to decimate their depth and cap space for the PR stunt of having all three Hughes brothers.
bang on, have you looked at how the devils are performing? why would they mess with that to make a massive move that would probably eliminate the chances of them signing bratt as well. Its more than depth its the opportunity costs. That being said i think Quinn would look really good on that fast young team.

If Devils are acquiring Quinn Hughes then Dougie Hamilton will have to go the other way.

There is no other scenario that makes sense. Swaping one offensive dman with a high cap hit for another.

I would be 100% okay with that, but I doubt Vancouver would be unless we seriously sweetened the pot.

Jack Hughes is playing well. He doesn't need Quinn ruining his success. Devils have puck moving players and do not need Hughes. We saw this obsession with the Staal brothers. Just let it go and let these players live their lives.

1st, Holtz, cap dump is not going to get Vancouver to bite. Hamilton's contract doesn't save them cap, so I can't see them being interested there and he's been much better this season so NJ should probably hang onto him for now.

All these overly complicated trade packages.

The easiest way to move Quinn to NJ is just to send Jack to Vancouver. Easy.

Nemec has a ton of value and looks NHL ready. Neither him or Muk will ever be as good as Hughes.
1. We are not doing this again...

2. How can you even say this? Lost all credibility. Nemec might be a better and more complete player than Quinn Hughes one day. It’s way too early to say with certainty that nemec will never be as good as Hughes.

Because players peak at 18. It's all downhill from there.

New Jersey can only add one more big price player & Hughes is the last thing we need. We desperately need a top 6 power forward & acquiring Hughes would handicap us from making any future moves. Defense is our strongest position. If NJ is doing anything it's going for a player like Timo Meier.

There is literally no guarantee at all they will be dominate together anymore than Hughes and Peterson. This isnt a Sedin dynamic where they played together their entire lives and could read each other at any time. They are two completely different players
There's no guarantee it would be better than his current chemistry with Pettersson, sure. But I think it's a pretty safe bet that players of that level, who happen to be brothers, would be great together.

A lot of times I find Quinn is thinking and moving faster than his teammates in Vancouver. That wouldn't happen playing with Jack.

NJ already has Hamilton as a purely offensive defender. I would imagine they would keep Nemec in all scenarios.

I don't think NJ would be willing to part with the pieces Van would want for Hughes.

Maybe if the Devils are successful when Quinn hits free agency he’ll want to join his brothers. In the meantime there’s really no room for him in the lineup. Save the assets for a scoring winger to play with Jack.

Can't see the Devil having any interest in Quinn Hughes right now, especially at the price it'd take to acquire him

I like the idea of this D line up for the next 5 years:

Siegenthaler-Hamilton
L. Hughes-Marino
Graves-Nemec

Let’s stop it with the Quinn posts. UFA seems like the viable option down the road.

I just don't see Quinn Hughes to NJ. If they had him his ideal partner would be Nemec. They won't trade that cost controlled asset either.

Maybe if Vancouver took Holtz and Severson vs trying for Nemec.

Holtz
1st
Severson (either Vancouver signs him or trades him)
Johnssson (cap dump)

Hughes
You must be joking me lol. I don't know why Canucks would trade their only legit D for leftovers like Severson, late 1st and Holtz. It's just stupid because Hughes is the play driver on that defense and has 27 assists. Without Hughes and Petersson, Canucks are in same boat as Arizona or worst at dead last.

if you look at the standings there isn't much of difference between arizona and vancouver, even with pettersson and hughes.

I don't really see why New Jersey would be that seriously interested in what amounts to a PR stunt. But i also really don't like that return for Hughes for the Canucks. If they were to deal him (which i'm okay with), it'd have to be something a lot more convincing that that.

I don't really believe Quin Hughes is the sort of defenceman you can build a perennial contender around as your #1D...but that doesn't mean i want to give him away for a "maybe" and a few other less promising "maybe" pieces.
Canucks need to have a Hughes similar to how Avs need Makar's offensive skills and skating ability. Every team in NHL needs those D men. Those #1 Dmen that you seem to think are ideal number 1 "do it all" defensemen are rare in NHL and I can count in one hand. They are Makar, Josi, Hedman and Pietrangelo. Hughes is the next tier down because of his elite offensive skills.

New Jersey can only add one more big price player & Hughes is the last thing we need. We desperately need a top 6 power forward & acquiring Hughes would handicap us from making any future moves. Defense is our strongest position. If NJ is doing anything it's going for a player like Timo Meier.
That should close this stupid thread. OP is illogical and this Hughes trade won't happen.

Honestly, Nemec and a first would most likely get the job done. There would need to be a third team in the mix to take on Hamiltons contract so that may be a bit tricky. I wonder if Florida or another team that is trying to win now would want Hamilton?

Hamilton has a full NMC the next 2 1/2 seasons and I just don't see any circumstances where NJ approaches him about waiving it. He seems happy in Jersey and the team & fans seem happy with his production. He's only been here a season and a half - why would they be looking to get rid of him? Sends a horrible message to potential UFA's and the rest of the team.

Quinn Hughes to NJ now makes no sense given the depth they have on defense in the pipeline.

I kinda figure as much, but simply spit balling as most of us here do. Anybody want to guess the over/under on a GM somewhere calling JR with a trade package for Quinn? Who has the steel balls to come up with something truly knocks it out of the park?

That's because you need more that 2 elite players to become a playoff team not that hard of a concept to grasp. And you think without Hughes and Petersson this team won't be worst off then it is??
