Quinn Hughes interview - Talks about his future in Vancouver Longterm as well as his respect for Tochett

You might be right, but Miller and Boeser are two high end players than left/are leaving. It is curious why they dont attract more UFA's because I agree on the city.

Recent captains to be traded or left
Tavares
ROR
OEL
Eichel
Giordano
Giroux
Stamkos
Horvat
Okposo
Trouba
Marchand

Im with you that captains dont move, but the team is trending in the wrong direction, but, but I guess $12+ could keep him there.
Boeser is not a high end player, at his best he’s an above average middle 6 player that lacks speed and play making ability.

A career 60+ point pace player who has been on crap teams for nearly a decade with 40 goal potential is a very high end player. That still paces for a top 50 point producer in the league and a top 10-20 goal scorer. Obviously give him some real talent and the potential to blow up is there.

Rantanen is a top 10-15 player in the league who deserves $12M. Boeser is a top 30-50 player in the league who will probably get $6-7-8M?

Obviously he doesnt want to stay so whatever there, but the loser part is getting nothing for him.

Also who are they replacing Miller and Boesers scoring with? Hell Kuzmenko too. This team has moved on from Miller, Boeser, Kuzmenko, and Horvt and barely scratched the surface replacing that scoring. I dont know why, but players dont go to Vancouver.

Obviously he doesnt have a history of 82 game seasons, but he's paced in the 60s every year on garbage Canucks teams and his obvious 82 game season was 40 goals and 73 points. That would be a top 50 point producer this season in the mid 60s.

Your missing his point. He's saying in the event Boeser does end up leaving Vancouver, he will become a top 30 player in his eyes.
Potentially. Put him on Seattle and we never hear from him again. Put him with MacKinnon and give him the Rocket.

Relevant team?

NJD has 4 more points than Van

NJD has made the playoffs once in the last 6 years and 2x in the last 12 years.

Both Van and NJD has made the Cup finals once in the last 15 yrs.
Yeah the history doesnt matter with how relevant these teams are at Hughes’s prime. (And anyways, what’s the Stanley Cup wins difference,3-0?)

What matters is that Van has declining Pettersson, always injured Demko and gone JT Miller and a one decent Prospect, while NJ has at least 3 upcoming great D prospects(L.Hughes, Nemec, Russian Guy) and elite Center duo Hughes-Hischier, great scoring winger Bratt.. and many of the core pieces signed with fantastic prices

Quinn's remarks remind me so much of Zach Parise after being named captain. He talked a lot about how great of an honor it was to be named captain and how he wants to remain a Devil and loves playing in NJ.

Signed in Minnesota without giving the Devils the option to match, which he allegedly said he's 100% do.

Ever since then, I haven't taken anything a player says publicly all too seriously.

These guys are trained and have people who help them with these PR instances. Of course Hughes is going to give the fans some hope after what is a rather far fall from grace from a team that took the division last season.

Boeser has spent half his career stapled to Miller, Pettersson, Horvat, Hughes at the peaks of their games. Saying he's going to suddenly blow up at this age, with his declining footspeed because he hasn't played with "real talent" is laughable.

And the whole "career 60+ pace point player". Pace is nice and all but the guy has only hit 60 points ONCE in his career, no one gives a f*** about fancy stats over actuals. You don't win games on paced points.

Exceptional human on and off the ice, but Boeser doesnt not provide anything at this point in his career that couldn't be replaced through UFA.

WHo is replacing him? The only free agents better or comparable are Tavares, Marner, Duchene, Bennett, Marchand, Ehlers, Kane, Nelson, Giroux or Drouin.

Most of my point. Assuming VAN misses on all these guys and that is likely, theyre only going backwards and how does that convince Quinn to stay?

Oh? looks like players like Garland, Suter and Debrusk are also comparable players.

I think the language about being obligated to do this stuff is kinda funny/odd. Do Canucks fans actually love what he said here and how he said it?
Quinn is smart. Grew up around hockey and lived in Toronto. I'd imagine he and his dad know what being in a hockey market means in terms of being smart with your words.

But, he clearly believes in the coaching staff. But, the Canucks need to get moving. yes, benning era screwed up a lot of draft picks and assets and JR/Allvin are doing what they can to make up for it.

But, at some point, they just need patience. Teams typically keep their better players.

Going to need to rely on good pro scouting to find a hit or two like FLA has.

Were just going to ignore the 40 goals literally last season now?
A player is only as good as what he is producing, an outlier 40 goal season does not mean a player is likely to continue to score 40 goals. That was his first and only season scoring over 30

So when Marner doesnt sign in Vancouver, they lose Boeser for nothing, and they do not improve overall in the next 2 years because of middling draft positions, Quinn is going to say, "They made me Captain, I guess ill commit to another 8 years here. Sign me up."

Right....

Why would he want to go somewhere where he might have to play defense?
