Yes not just the owner but Mendes' partner Sly also focusing on developing the French market. This is new. I would also figure if they are cultivating eastern Quebec fans, its not to get them to come to games as much as to watch on french language tv. If adding them as viewers to the local french broadcast, it becomes worth more. And this would likely be a long term play awaiting team success to really capitalize on it. Worth cultivating more i'd figure.

Monday all french media was happy with everything about the Québec annoncement. Also the split jersey. And tuesday they have not understand all the complain in Ottawa. They said this fanbase so insecure

The complaints in Ottawa over the jersey are pretty easy to understand.

This franchise has basically been under siege since day it was awarded. From day one, the ontario government under Bob Rae was trying to create conditions to cause the team to move to Hamilton. So any kind of move to have a split jersey is an issue

I bet Tampa Bay Rays fans aren't fond of an alignment with Montreal and some of their games being played in Montreal which has been discussed. I view this the same way. I really don't think it's a language thing. It's a culture thing.

It'd be interesting to poll Ottawa fans and ask when they became Sens fans. Personally I was a diehard Hab fan and remained one until the Sens and Habs met in the playoffs.
