This is not very special! When the Finns had a much stronger team on paper as now,we could speak about "special". Looking in the past 2017(1:4) and 2013(0:3) the finns were chanceless vs Swedish top-teams

Yes normally a Swedish top-team wins without problems against a finnish team of no names but the hope of a miracle dies last. Though the Finns need a very big portion of luck and Sweden had to catch an unexplainable bad evening. There is really not a lot what speaks for Finland, Sweden is the big favourite.

Having Lundqvist in opposite goal can be your advantage actually, he hasit been as solid as he used to be. Still can show his perfect game so who knows.

Lundqvist has never lost to Finland as far as I can remember. Doubt it happens tomorrow.

Sweden should walk over us but for some reason I feel like they might choke hard this time.

Swedes haven't played well so far, 4-2 for Finland.

Last 15 years at WC:

2005 WC Group Stage: Sweden-Finland 5-1
2007 WC Group Stage: Sweden-Finland 1-0
2008 WC Bronze Medal Game: Finland-Sweden 4-0 (Jalonen)
2011 WC Gold Medal Game: Sweden-Finland 1-6 (Jalonen)
2013 WC Semi-Final Game: Finland-Sweden 0-3
2017 WC Semi-Final Game: Finland-Sweden 1-4

Without Jalonen, Finland 0 wins 4 losses against Sweden
With Jalonen, 2 wins 0 losses over Sweden

Finland, Finland über alles Finland!

We bow to no one - whatever the odds may be ... remember Russia?!

... and Sweden by the way: you have never ever started a war without Finland on your side - nor less you have won one.

Thanx for nothing ...

And why again is this Team Finland so mediocre roster wise with no NHL players involved? Bad luck? The host country - not really? The coach - nope? The Law of Gravity? Maybe it is that then with bad luck as a trigger.

No we don t understand why Finland has almost every WHC fewer NHL-Players like Russia or Czech.

A team who has performed above expectations vs a team that has performed below expectations. Both declining in the last couple of games and both pissed off because of their last game.

Could go either way but I think we do win as long as Henke doesn’t allow any easy goals in the first period.

5-1 in favor of Sweden

Well, here's what speaks for Lundqvist. When it's a do or die game, he's not the guy to cut some slack on his focus. I don't think he will be as susceptible for a softie as in the group stages. He had a really rough season, because the games didn't matter and he knew it. I think he'll be good enough, even if I prefered Markström.

All the speaks for Finland in this game is puck luck, a good number of PPs and that their system holds. Player by player, Sweden is way better, even if it's only on paper.

I don't expect neither team to come out unprepared and that gives the edge to Sweden. As it's only a game and hockey is quite luck oriented, any result can happen, but we're talking odds here.

I would say Sweden 70% and Finland 30%, which will not end in a blowout.

Feel like sweden plays as always harder and better than their actual level.. Sweden has almost their olympic roster vs us

Should be 2-5 swe but there is a chance

I count 7 players (2 of them goalies) who would be locks for a Swedish olympic team. A couple more would be strongly considered. That's hardly close to an Olympic roster. Most of our top players are not in this tournament.

That is a bit harsh. I have at 9 players on this squad in the best-on-best team, and I can see Larsson getting an invite just for being a RHD to make it 10.

Arvidsson - Pettersson - Forsberg
Landeskog - Bäckström - Nylander
Zibanejad - W. Karlsson - E.Lindholm
Rakell - Backlund - Silfverberg

Hedman - Klingberg
Ekholm - E.Karlsson
Ekman-Larsson - Dahlin
H.Lindholm

Lehner
Markström
Lundqvist

No matter how you slice it, Sweden has a lot closer level to their best roster than Finland, where maybe 2 players (Jokiharju and Kakko) makes their best-on-best first team.

Forgot about Pettersson. Elias Lindholm's numbers from this season look good but he is certainly no lock, I'd take a long look at Söderberg and Nyquist.

At first glance I thought this was the actual Sweden roster and I was about to shit my pants

Finland has a very weak team on paper but last time they lacked this much firepower was 2014. They got to the final where they were finally defeated by the refs, aka Putin's agents
